I've seen lots of folks with the lightweights and I'd like this gun to be light. It is a 6.5 Creedmoor, so recoil isn't really a thing.

Any issues or concerns running the lighter mount? I need it to be durable enough to fly, and hunt with.

I am personally not a fan of Talley rings. Too much flex for my taste.

For shots out to 600, I don't think you will need a 20MOA rail. But Inwould go the route of a good rail and ring set up. It makes it easy to have a spare scope set up for your rifle and take on a hunt in case anything happens while away from home. 4 screws and you are good to go.

I like ARC, Seekins, or Hawkens for rings. In that order. Badger Ordinance are great too, especially when mounting real estate is limited.

I'm not big on swapping scopes from rifle to rifle, but it happens occasionally. All of our rifles and scopes are mounted with Picatinny bases and rings, so in theory any scope we own could be swapped to any rifle we own.

What's that a question to this who makes a receiver length Picatinny base with a recoil lug? For the Tikka T3X?

Absolutely! I've followed this philosophy for quite some time. The last thing needed, especially on an out of state or once in a lifetime hunt…..is to have a scope failure, without a back-up scope ready to go!


While many talk bad about them, my wife and I both have back-up scopes mounted and zero'd in Leupold Q/R.


While I've only swapped back and forth a couple of times for testing purposes…..they did keep there zero.


As for their strength, while we don't shoot as much as most here, they've never failed us……and both of our rifles pretty good recoil. memtb

I use the Talley one piece light weights on a couple of my browning Xbolt's and haven't had a problem.
I don't fly anywhere to hunt but I have hunted hard with them and never had a change in zero.
It will be in a well padded case and you should check zero when arriving whichever setup you choose.

Murphy Precision stainless steel picatinny rail in natural finish(shiny to me) or black, he also does titanium if you want it lighter, he can do full length or a shorter version that ends just past the forward screws, recoil lug(s) included (T3 has one T3x has two). I used Seekins rings.

I've read posts that the Talley lightweights ring mounts can crack.

I'm short on options that can actually be purchased. I'd like a receiver length 0 moa Picatinny rail with a recoil lug. Several make this, but everything is so.d out or over $100. I have a hard time spending over $75 on a scope rail.

That heavy of a scope on a light weight rifle may throw off the balance some.

Personally I use EGW one piece bases.
Usually with 20MOA.
Made in Pennsylvania.

Their bases tend to be on the tall side, but they allow me to use low rings.
Even the Sightron SIII 10-50X60 on my wife's Savage 110FP. (24" heavy varmint barrel)

Teamed up with EGW's Keystone line of rings and you have one solid setup!

Plus is that if you order both at the same time you save 10%.

That silver pin.

It is there because a Tikka base is flat on flat with a small bolt torque trying to hold it. The alternative is using adhesive to attach it.

6061 is vastly inferior to 7075 aluminum and that's why all the chinesium parts and brands selling to the lowest price point use it. A lot of good domestic manufacturers have been mentioned already. I'll add Warne to that list.
