For sales within LRH, rules say - Pic with date, members name, I also include Ms. Lady B Bug to scare off aphids who might attach to process. I notice that pics of sold items cannot be viewed on LRH, for copy. Looks like any messages were not within LRH, don't think LRH PM's can be deleted. If this is a photo of a real Iowa DL how did the bad guy get the DL to make a photo copy - must have stolen the DL. Can the $300 payment be traced?

Sorry to see this type of thing. The Almighty will not be pleased to see this sin, using his name (photo 405-673-1653) . Thank-you SouthBound for sharing this. Buying/selling thru LRH can be appreciated.

FWIW, it has happened several times on here as well. Just do your due diligence when making large purchases, a phone call to the seller/buyer goes a long way.

As clearly noted, "I" never said it was 100% safe, but you hit on the head; due diligence is a must regardless of the purchase amount.

Yes, but "YOU" also clearly made a point about it having happened on another site and not LRH. Just saying, it's happening everywhere and LRH is unfortunately not exempt. When they hack into a well respected member's account it's much harder to discern fact from fiction. As always, if it's too good to be true, it unfortunately usually is.

NO, "I" am merely trying to keep it here in LRH because what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas regardless of whether it is getting scammed or an account hacked.

Sorry you got Scammed !!! I sold a Sig 551A1 a while back and 2 different A holes copied my pics and tried to sell it at different times on Arms list and Gun broker in wgmhich I contacted them both and the Ads were removed !!!

I like the adding name in date on paper method seems hard to fake having something you don't with that method.
Outside of making a deal for a gun you don't provide is a felony correct ?

The only problem with that is, I'm a well known member and active on rokslide. Some guy from turkey hacked my account and scammed a few people because he was able to make it seem as if it were me. Now it's hard to even decipher.

Maybe we need to make a Facebook page and confirm each other on both to make sure or something of that nature.

The date with the paper has been tried. They can photoshop a copy onto a picture from elsewhere that is hard to detect. The paper looks like it's 'floating' off the surface a bit is the only clue.

Unfortunate for sure but what I have learned in my 50 years. If somebody you just met says they are Christian or man of god. Run and don't look back. True Christian's don't tell you or need to tell you,

You are absolutely correct. The WSJ had a story some years ago about scams on dating sites. Apparently ChristianMingle.com attracted scammers by the boatload - women (and perhaps men) thought they were dealing with moral people and were therefore more trusting.

This would depend on each state's 'Revised Statutes' and what monetary amount they consider to be felonious. In Kentucky anything with a value of $1,0000 or more is felonious. Under that amount is a simple Misdemeanor. Just because the transaction "involves" a firearm does not automatically make it a felony….unless it is the firearm itself that was stolen. In that case, in Kentucky, it is an automatic felony (see 514.030 2 (a).

I do this all from my phone. So not sure what or how it happened. Maybe a spam email I accidentally opened? Who knows

Not every hack is an actual virus, far from it.

While very handy for malware, trojans, and software exploits, Anti-virus software won't help against a Phishing-style attempt, especially if the same usernames and same or similar passwords are used across multiple websites. It only takes a single slip up and they gotcha.

I work in the cybersecurity industry and I have seen some VERY convincing phishing attempts. To the point, I have had to just trust my gut that what I was looking at was a phish attempt.

Phones are handy, and are also the devil since you can also be Smished (SMS "aka" text hacking). Smishing is very prevalent in Europe (where I currently am working). They use this as a way to verify phone numbers used in two factor authentication or drop malicious links that land you on websites that look legit, but aren't. Think about HOW MUCH information is on your smart phone, meta data in your pictures, etc - should scare you a bit.

Use two factor authentication where it makes sense and use a Yubikey (hard token) as your second authenticity token. Yes, they even make them that work with phones...two factor is not impervious if the user isn't attune to what he/she is reading!
