SAUM’s Share yours from Hunting or Comp. Pics Heavy !!

Waiting patiently for Black Canyon in Denver to get my 6.5 saum done. I just dropped everything off last week so I am guessing a few months. Here is my list of parts. Terminus Kratos Lite long action, Proof carbonfiber 24" 7.5 tw, Bix n Andy, Hawkins hunter bottom metal, Manners pro hunter mini chassis. I am thinking nx8 4-32 that I need to buy. 156gr bergers, ADG brass, Retumbo or H1000.
The 156 is about the only bullet I haven't shot in my 6.5 saum so maybe it is different but h1000 is the powder you will need for the 130-140 class (including the 125 HH mono). The only time I strayed from the magical h1000 was when I worked up a 99 grain hammer hunter with h4350 at around 3500 for a coyote laser. 6.5 Saum and h1000 is like peanut butter and jelly…..

Retumbó and 156s did it on my 6.5 SAUM, getting 3000 fps out of a 22 inch barrel.

Here it is. Finally got it back all put together. Now I just need to get a few rounds down the tube.

Thats good speed. Here is what I just finished loading. Hopefully I am not to hot on the top end.

156 Berger H1000 56-59gr in .5 gr increments

156 Berger Retumbo 57- 60gr in .5 gr increments.

Not sure on H1000, I gave up when I didn't get low es and sd in my rifle. 60 grains of Retumbo is probably going to be right up there towards max. My original load was 59.5 with new brass, backed off a full grain after my barrel sped up and 1x brass was getting a light ejector mark.

You should get 2950 or better with your 24" after it speeds up.

Let us know how it goes!

This is my 7 SAUM that I put together on a Savage flat back long action. I had McGowen chamber up a 26" 8.5 twist barrel off of some 195 EOL dummy rounds I sent them to take advantage of the long action. It runs the 195's at 2870 and 180 ELD-M's at 2910 with the same charge of H1000. I found a HS precision take off stock, a CDI bottom metal along with an Accurate 3.715" 338 Lapua mag that I installed a front spacer in and it feeds great! The white target is at 219 yards and my point of aim was the center bullet hole in the paper…it shoots great!

Currently shooting the 165 grain Sierra tipped game kings. Nobody seems to love these bullets but I've had this load shoot great in three different barrels. Norma brass, fed210 with 59.6gr H4831sc loaded at my max mag length of 2.95.
The 7 saum is a great balance of recoil and down range effectiveness. My 12 year old son and 10 year old daughter both shoot this rifle. The suppressor combined with a mild load with a 165 grain bullet make it a joy to shoot.

This is my first suppressor and I'm very excited to introduce the saum to some deer and elk this fall.

I have a 6.5/284 that I can luckily run H4350 with 140's in mid 2900 range on the edge of pressure but shoots like a house a fire so I don't mess with it.
I understand the Vit powders do well with 6.5 short magnum cases too.
