To help give people information on
What's Special about a SAUM?

I'd like to keep this thread about the SAUM,s only that utilize headstamped
Brass in 6.5, 7, & 300 SAUM.

I'd like to see Rifle build pics guys are using chambered in SAUM.

Also include some positive information in regards to the benefits & Performance you've experienced from your SAUM rifles, to help introduce & promote the SAUM to others.
As well as highlighting any advantages you attribute to the cartridge itself.
ie: overachieving, easy to load, versatile,
Inherently accurate, etc.

This is to piggy back off of another thread I started recently to help promote continued support of a cartridge that performs really well, & deserves to have more Brass options made available.

Help Keep the SAUM's Alive !!!

Thank you for your support.

Now share your Great pics & Experience of your favorite SAUM.
I put together my 7mm SAUM from a Zermatt TL3 short action, proof research 24" pre-fit barrel with a 1 in 8.4 twist and a Manners stock with their mini chassis. Have used the Nightforce NX8 F2 20X shown and a Leupold VX5HD 15X. I have it shooting both 150 Accubond LR and Barnes 139 LRX under 0.5"@ 100. The AB's are at 3070 and LRX's at 3150. Occasionally run one of my suppressors. Very happy overall.

Very nice dacole2. No muzzle brake for you?

I've been using the TBAC CB brakes and Ultra 7 suppressors (with CB brake threads). There are definitely better brakes out there but this makes for easy swapping the suppressor between rifles.

Update! Just scored this 6.5 SAUM yesterday on the chair! Built on a R700 stainless long action, Bartlett barrel (may have mispelled) M24 contour, barrel and action cerakoted green, nightforce rail, Greyboe Phoenix stock, thunderbeast CB brake. I stuck a Vortex razor LHT 4.5-22 moa scope on and ready to sling lead Saturday. Came with 100 rounds of 142gr HPBT prime ammo and 100 rounds of 130gr HPBT handloads in hornady brass and 3 accurate mags with spacers to run in LA. Now my 7 SAUM below has a little brother to run with. 6.5 for range fun, 7 for hunting. Seems like I need at least a 300 SAUM......just don't tell my wife.

300 SAUM on Rem 700 SA , HS stock I inletted for DBM.
Benchmark barrel 26 in 10 twist .
Finish reamer .120 freebore .

195 Gr Sierra TMK on both bulls at 2950 fps using 64.5 grains of reloder 19 .030 OFF the lands out of magazine . temp 40-45 degrees on both animals .
My boy popped the big one up top at 307 yards ..double lung.
The second was taken at 586 yards , quartering chest ..hit nerve plexus and took out two inches of upper spine at base of the neck .. projectile recovered in hide on opposite shoulder .
I have two other 700 's I chambered in 6.5 SAUM ..one for hunting the other for long range high power competition.. Needless to say I'm fond of em .. we also pushed a 208 gr ELD at 2925 fps into this bull below at 419 yards out of a build I did for my buddy ..

Factory production / support for the SAUM variants would be ideal .

300 SAUM from previous post used on elk .

6.5 SAUM
Proof 8 twist
.100 freebore
KRG BRAVO
Sightron 6-24 S3

My youngest took this cactus buck at 634 yards with 140 ELD at 3100 fps with 57 gr. N -165 ...025 into lands out of magazine .

6.5 SAUM
Proof 8 twist chambered with same reamer ,.100 freebore .
Used for highpower competition .
Eliseo RTS chassis
700 SA in the sleeve .
CG Jackson trigger
144 hybrid 3020 fps .030 into the lands or 153.5 hybrid at 2980 fps ..into the lands 030.
N165 is what I use for string fire at 1000 yard line .
53.3 grains for 153.5 ..
52.8 grains for 144
Norma ( PRIME AMMUNITION Headstamp) brass used on all 6.5 rigs .
I have tons of data with 140- 153.5 weights and various powders on all rigs with 4 different barrels .
I have had some issues blowing bullets when it gets hot on a rough throat . Having said that ..the remedy seems to be running em softer and keeping the throat lapped . I use Tubb TMS bullets to do this with . Problem goes away .
For hunting work , PRS type events , conventional long range highpower .. SAUM case geometry provides flexibility to support everything I do a lot of .

I've been using the TBAC CB brakes and Ultra 7 suppressors (with CB brake threads). There are definitely better brakes out there but this makes for easy swapping the suppressor between rifles.
Used the 7 on just one Western hunt so far, plain muzzle , for pronghorn, a 450 yd kill. As a matter of fact, I have a TBAC Ultra 7 and use it with CB brakes on some other rifles and love it. I used a silencerco Harvester direct thread on the 7 SAUM though, mainly at the range and out of a tower stand for whitetails.

Great thread... might as well keep it alive. I'm about to get a 7 saum build started with very similar specs. How is the 18" barrel performing velocity-wise? I'd like to do the same but have been leaning toward the 20".
I got out again today & shot a few 3 shot groups @ 100. Six 3-shot groups ranging from 65.0 to 66.0 grains of N560. 147gr. Apex Afterburners, .015 otl. federal 210m.
Settled on a nice .3 group at 65.6gr with velocity of 3019, 3018, 3020. 😳
it's a bit snappy !!
Gonna take it out some distance & see how that load holds up from the 18" bbl.
I think it'll be fine. All groups were sub .5
This load development has been pretty easy so far really happy with the 147's &
N560. My build is performing as intended.

Had a little R to L wind today but got my Berger 140 EH load settled for my 6.5 SAUM at 3060. Was really happy with the 5 shot group from a Bipod and the low ES. Went to 600 and held the 0.5 MOA group which is about as good as I can shoot. I love SAUMs.

In the what if dept what if the Rem 722 had been introduced with a 3.15 mag box. What would we argue about and how many fewer cartridges would have been introduced.
