300 Win Mag Norma brass Forester Micro seating die. The neck wall thickness is .014, and the brass sized is .03345 with the bullet.03355 Hornady 208ELDm and Sierra 195 TMK. BUT no such ring with Berger 168 VLD Hunting bullet.
I'm just curious mind you, but what method are you using to measure to 50 millionths (.00005)?300 Win Mag Norma brass Forester Micro seating die. he's measuring the outside of the brass neck before and after seating the bullet, so the bullet is expanding the neck by .001 ( which is pretty normal)I'm just curious mind you, but what method are you using to measure to 50 millionths (.00005)?
Oh Wait! Maybe you meant .3345 on the brass and .3355 on the bullet?
Oh Wait! There is your problem right there. A .3345 bullet going in a .3065 hole. That will do it every time!
.014 x 2=.028
.3345-.028=.3065 hole
.3355 bullet? what the heck?
I would suggest getting some .308 diameter bullets and your problem will probably disappear.
Suggestion: Don't reload on New Years Eve while partying.
Maybe you're right! But I think my math was ok.he's measuring the outside of the brass neck before and after seating the bullet, so the bullet is expanding the neck by .001 ( which is pretty normal)
Maybe you shouldnt drink while reading posts or doing math
.014+.014+.308 = .336
OP-- The ring is because of a mismatched bullet profile/seating plug profile
As others said, get a different seating plug or bed it to the bullet
If it's deforming them, yes. How far are you shooting at paper?I'm curious on the ring I get them sometimes also and wondering if it makes a difference on how they shoot cause I've not noticed a difference on paper
100 yards zero same whole then have put it to 1070 on metal targets always dingsIf it's deforming them, yes. How far are you shooting at paper?
there just slight marks don't think they are really deforming the bullet I'm just saying that the marks might not be to much of a problem if there not gauging into the bulletIf it's deforming them, yes. How far are you shooting at paper?
