Rimfire Coyote setup

Between the 2 choices listed, definitely 17wsm. It is a killing machine. The rimx is awesome, i only wish it was a little lighter and they would make a smaller mag for it. I'm using my ruger 77 more now for hunting, but not in the same league as the rimx.

Did you build your own or buy it already go to rifle ? Did you buy the conversions also ? Or is it strictly 17 WSM ?
They are simple to build if you want, preferred barrels make 17wsm prefits. I got 2 barrels from them and both were perfect. All you need to swap is a bolt head and magazine to switch over to 22lr

That what I was looking at. I was just wondering if it was better to build specific calibers or to buy one action and the conversion kits ? I know there were a few Smiths selling rifles. A bit costly but beautiful performers.

How do you like the Ruger ? I was looking at them also. And I would be curious if this M4 kit is even plausible ? As far as dependability and accuracy ? https://www.omahaoutdoors.com/franklin-armory-f17-m4-complete-upper-kit-17-wsm-16/

The only thing I don't like about the ruger is the bolt, super stiff to close on a round. I upgraded the trigger and now it's great. I ended up building a rimx because the rugers that were available on gunbroker were 17-1800. I think it was sometime late spring of 2024 ruger starting making the 17wsm again and i was able to pick one up for $900. It all depends on what you want, if you like nice actions and custom rifles the rimx is the way to go. If you just want a hunting gun I think the ruger is fine for that. I have a bmag as well, shoots good but not even as nice as the ruger...

I use both 22 mag and 17 hmr every once in a while on predators. Carry one or the other all the time for sod puppies, beaver and other critters. I love my 17s and consider them one of my top 3 favorite rounds of all time. It won't have an issue killing a coyote with the right shot out to 100 yards. I wouldn't go much over that though due to energy loss. I shoot either a CZ452 or tikka T1x suppressed in the 17HMR and have a Bergara and a few Marlin bolts I shoot 22 mag in. I use a heavier bullet in the 22 mag with a 30 cal rifle suppressor on it and it will hit a bit harder at 100. I also wouldn't go much over 100 with it either.
Really can't go wrong with either caliber for what you are doing. Ammo is easy to find and cost roughly the same a box of 50($15+/-). I would recommend going with a good bolt action for either one over a semi. The ones I mentioned are very smooth and quiet shooting and loading. I highly recommend a suppressor for both and outfitting with a decent scope. All mine are topped with Zeiss fine cross haired scopes because the rifles are all very capable of great accuracy! Many beaver head shots have been placed and sod puppies have been successful eradicated out to 100 yards with them😉
If you are more fox and smaller coyote I would probably lean towards 17HMR. Great fur saver for those closer shots. Shoot for heart.
You sir have fantastic taste 😄.

I have the BMAG HB. I would rather have a Ruger or Rim X. I have been giving the 17 Hornet some thought also.
