Dip sponge method is pretty simple. Here are a few I've done:

If the stock has any paint on it, you'll need to strip it the old paint with a remover like Citristrip, it works great and easy to use.

Done a few with Krylon Camo and at the end I apply an Acrylic matte finish, they come out great

The stock is a Carbon Fiber Composite, will citristrip be ok to use on it to remove old paint

That I do not know. It works great with synthetic stocks, but I have not tried it on a carbon fiber one.
