retumbo vs n570 in 300 rum testing

as great as re33 might be, its non existent in bulk form unless you are already stocked up pre-covid.

I just picked up 2 8lb jugs of n570 and didn't have to rush to order it.

once i find max with n570 im going to see if 24n41 has anything to offer with the heavies.

i do have a friend sitting on a 1lb can of re-33 that i could probably persuade to let me buy to test with ;)
I've got about 20 lbs of RL33 I would trade for Vihtavouri N570 I'm in Michigan

If your traveling through Wv. Stop by, I will trade 8 for 8.👍 Edit. I will add that
570 will outperform any powder. And if you are afraid of burning your barrel, you may not want to use it. I like it 👌

Where did you get the 0.97 for N570 ? I have been looking but never seen it listed, thanks !
Here you go!

If you don't like Hodgdon powders or think costs to much that's find by me. Hodgdon powder seem to have a greater deman that others. I wonder why? Go to the 1000yds matches and see what they are using. Those matches start in the morning and go all day. Temps change durning that time.
Read about what it takes to win those matches. They even adjust the bullet length as the lands change during the matchs.
Where I hunt it's at the weather changes all the time and 1000 plus miles away from where I live at. Or the weather changes during the day 50+ degrees or more. Now where I am at with powder changes greatly and I am trying to make 700 to 1000 yd shot. What your ES & ED at. You means you have missed the shot. Even worst is you have wounded that animal. Now you are into tracking that animal. Maybe a short distance or for miles, The ground changes and can you read the sights or lose them. I have spent all day only to lose those tracks in late day. Not my animal but in the group I was hunting with. Something to think about.

No where in that last chart does it say N570 is .97 fps/degree…N560 does

Let me elaborate on my experience...

From my experience with using N570 in my (2) 338 Edges and my (2) 300 RUM's, in temps from +100*F to -30*F, there is ZERO chance that N570 is .97 fps/degree…ZERO…in my guns. Maybe my barrels are magical?

Your mileage my vary…

But I do not believe everything I read on the internet…real world applications matter more to me

Here's one for ya…In my 32" .458 Smokeless muzzle loader, a 335 grain bullet with Reloder 16 actually SPEEDS UP when it gets colder….yup speeds up…but don't believe everything you read on the internet. :)

I have shot it in my RUM and Edge at 30F(rounds in the frige overnight) and at 90F my velocity was only up about 20 fps in both guns.

It's listed from N560 -24N41. There no change in the velocity in those powders. That's the way I read the chart.

That's not how those charts work. Every powder that has its own known/calculated drop in FPS/per degrees, will be listed individually per powder.
I see it differently. I don't really care what you do with N570. Then what is the change in velocity? If you can find it I would like to see it. I'll place it in my charts.

If I'm recalling correctly, I read an article from back in 2017 or so where it was stated that vihtavouri had reformulated there N500 powders. Stated they were temp stable and had copper fouling eliminator added. Think a couple of ingredients had been taken out to make make the powder green compliant. Had a picture of a bottle with all the changes stated on the bottle.

From their web site:

VIHTAVUORI POWDERS WITH DECOPPERING AGENT ARE BETTER FOR BARRELS

All Vihtavuori reloading powders produced today have an added decoppering agent, also called anti-fouling agent. What does that mean for the reloader using Vihtavuori powders?

The decoppering agent reduces the amount of copper residue that forms within the rifle barrel when shooting. Less copper residue translates as a cleaner rifle barrel. For the reloading target shooter, this means muzzle velocities with less deviation and increased accuracy, especially when firing multiple groups.
