Remington 700 CDL 30.06

I bought a Gen 2 5R last year I believe it was. I had some issues but Remington took care of them. Mine is the new serial numbers so after the buy out, there was a few people who commented on my thread with some good info. I think the thread was Rem 700 Still a no go? Hope this helps a bit. I would buy another one due to how they handled my issues

I ordered a 700 CDL in 30.06 earlier this evening. The LGS said it should be Wednesday and he is usually spot on with deliveries. This guy has always taken care of me over the years and I like buying local. I ended up going with the blued model and I'm pretty optimistic over the purchase. I have a VX3HD in 3.5x10 so it should be a pretty nice set up. Thanks to everyone for the help and replies.

Don’t think you’ll be disappointed

Cool! I hope the new rifle works out well for you. I've had my 30-06 Rem 700 CDL for about 12 years now I think... Have taken a fair bit of game with it and it shoots well. I did replace the Remington trigger with a Timney, also a local smith pillar bedded the action and free-floated the barrel. Other than that, it's as Remington built it.

Looking back it's taken two elk, two black bear, a grizzly, a couple of pronghorn antelope and at least a half dozen mule deer.

Other than the factory trigger, it's worked great. I understand that the triggers have been changed since mine was built. Perhaps yours won't need any attention. Photos include a recent 100 yard target of a three-shot group at 100 yards using the 165 gr Hornady CX bullet. Also a cow elk I shot with it at 405 yards with a 178 gr ELD-X and a Wyoming 4x5 muley taken at about 140 yards with a 165 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. It's been a good rifle. Mine is topped with a simple 6x Leupold.

Best of luck with yours! I hope it works out great.

Regards, Guy

Thanks for the reply, I had a Ruger M77 in 30.06 that I bought in the early 80's and it seems lately that I wanted to replace it with another 06. You've had great success with yours over the years and congratulations with that. Take care.

I do not have any of the "new versions," but I do have 2 '70 vintage BDL's. My wife has a 17 Remington that's a hoot to shoot, and I have a 25-06 that I had a gun smith re-do with a Douglas Supreme target barrel and a thumb-hole walnut stock. Assuming I do my part, it will put "5 under a dime" at a hundred yards. I recently replaced the stock trigger with a Tminey trigger and it greatly improved the rifle.
