I run several prefit barrels, a couple savages and a tikka t3. they all shoot as good or better than I can muster on a normal day. I used my savage 260 for matches and don't feel like the barrel accuracy held me back in any way. If in doubt with the remage, give the action to a smith and at least have the receiver face squared, then run with it. that way you can be sure most is square, and I'll bet it shoots pretty darn good.

Would anyone opt for the CF barrel vs sst due to weight? About $200 difference when you consider fluting sst. This will be for a 338 rum or edge.

depends on your contour overall, I have 338RUM being built and found that the sendero contour with heavy spiral fluting met my weight goals while being far cheaper than the CF. In all reality, you can match the weight of the CF with steel, but it would take fluting and careful contour consideration, but it will still be cheaper.

My first build was on a bare 700 SA receiver from brownells with a 6.5 barrel from NSS. With factory ammo it was a .75-1 MOA gun. I did find a good load with Peterson SRP brass and 147 ELDM's that was averaging .5 MOA 5 shot groups. However that was single feeding ( 2.873 OAL get caught under the feed lip with a Bravo Chassis and the bolt started piercing primers). I was actually quite surprised how easy it was to put together (almost seemed too easy) my main concerns came from the 700 Action. When I re-due this rifle I plan on going with a Tenacity, Origin, or Nucleus action to alleviate these issues. If you are serious about this I would also look into the BarLoc from ARC. My brother just used this set up and it went together quite nicely.

Love my remage barrel. Shoots 1/3-1/2 moa depending on my performance.
Just finished a howage setup last night and it shoots great

Im no expert but you made mention of the savage bolt and tolerance. But think about this when a bolt is put into battery what happens? How could a floating head act any different than a one piece bolt when locked? Maybe someone can help me understand this but i cant see it locking up canted off the lugs.

I don't think the idea is for it to lock up canted off the lugs. My understanding is the floating bolt head allows the head to lock up flush with the lugs. I also think the action threads are pretty well aligned with the lugs on Savage actions. The allows the floating head to set securely locked on both lugs and aligned with the barrel at the sametime.
