Im sure that a few gunsmiths might say NO but I shoot sub .5 MOA groups with mine

I forgot to add that I did buy a blueprinted M700 action for $569? from James of Northlands at the same time that I bought the Criterion Barrel, nut, recoil lug, and tools. I don't even have a barrel vise and I did the whole job on my kitchen counter.

I popped in the go-gauge, it didn't close on the no-go, so I tightened it up, torqued to 45lbs with a torque wrench, checked with the gauges again and I am done.

Sub .5MOA groups at 100 yards so I'm not quite sure how a gunsmith could have done a "Better" job.

He's not just a parts seller..he's a very knowledgeable, contentious, helpful and gracious person in every way.

I have had a similar, very positive experiences with James when I decided to replace the barrels in a couple of my Savages. I'm now contemplating doing the same with my Remington's. If the results are comparable to my experience installing a 6.5x47L Criterion Match barrel on my Savage LRP Eggshooter, I'll be quite pleased. As a side note: I was able to set headspace to match that of my PRS rifle, also in 6.4x47, enabling the use of the same FL dye/brass with both rifles.

I totally agree! It was too easy.
I actually thought that I was missing doing something.

From now on I will only buy Remage Actions

Is it true, that the threads are not to be trued for a criterion remage? so blueprinting for a remage is just to true the receiver face, bolt face, and lugs?

Sorry, i wasn't clear. I was alluding to the tenon threads, or whatever you call the threads in the action. are those to be trued or not for a remage barrel? Thanks.

I have a remage barrel on my trued rem 700. All my rifles have barrel nuts now

Yeah I think this is definitely the way to go for me. My next build will be using a barrel nut. Tired of dishing out all my money for gunsmithing. I spent $750 on my last build just in Smith fees. I could have bought a nice factory rifle for that price.

With the accuracy I've gotten from prefit barrels I'll never have gunsmith fees for barrel mounting

The answer is no, the threads in the action should not be modified with a blue print, for a prefit barrel. This is the info I received from multiple professionals.

Anybody use a patriot valley arms barrel nut on a Remage? I'm curious how it worked, specifically on a criterion barrel. Those sure seem to be the most aesthetically pleasing and use a box end wrench.
