The 350 Mag in the 600 was noted in one article as the demise of the 600 model since small carbines with magnum rounds are far from pleasant to shoot. I've always loved the the 600 models and had a chance to buy a 673 on the used rack maybe 10yrs ago. I think I was so dumbfounded to actually find one that I didn't act and by the next day it was gone.
I have since built my own Frankenstein version converting a Kimber 84M 300 WSM into a 358-300 WSM with a Lilja barrel as light as possible and completed it with a lightweight Leupold mounted on lightweight rings. I want to say the complete rifle was just under 7lbs IIRC and that was with a 26" barrel (a holdover preference from shooting a Weatherby). I didn't bother to have the barrel threaded as I figured I just need to get it sighted in and would only shoot it hunting thereafter. After maybe 4 or 5 rounds the recoil was so horrific I had to stop, and my standard rifle is a Sako M995 in 338 Lapua. I then had the barrel cut down to 24 and threaded with a brake. It became manageable but still not enjoyable. Just last year I cut the barrel down again to 20" and threaded for a suppressor. I also switched to a rail with heavy duty rings and a heavier V6 Leupold, along with a few extra grains of lead epoxied into the butt of the stock just to increase some weight. Shot it this past season and absolutely love it.
So that's my long rant on a light carbine rifle with a magnum chambering and what it takes to be a rifle you want to shoot.
