Rem 700 short action - 7mm-08 build

Thanks everyone. I think I am going with this that was suggested...

The offer $75 off for military, so it is the same cost as the SPS. Keeps me on budget.
Evo's are a very nice action.

I've got one and I built a 6CM on it. Solid action for sure. Good luck.

So, next question. I am looking at the difference between a 22" and 24" Proof Research. The 24" comes in the standard 1:9 twist. The 22" comes in 1:8 and 1:8.4. Plan on mostly shooting the 140 grain Accubond and the 150 grain ELD-X. However, I might want to drop to a 129 Barnes. Would the 1:8.4 be much of a difference if I went with the 22" barrel? Or for hunting, just stick with the 24"?

1:8 gives you the option to shoot mono's, but 1:9 is all you really need for what you stated.

Just get the 1:8. You can still shoot a 140 accubond or even a 120 lead no name whatever, but you can also shoot the longest of monos or the EOL. It gives you all the options. The 1:9 limits you. There's no downside to the 1:8. You can spin a cup and core apart, but the 1:8 isn't going to do that. You never know where you interests regarding bullets will lead you in the future, might as well be able to use everything.

Good call. You'll be money ahead by the time you buy a rem700 and have it brought up to spec.
