RAMSHOT LRT POWDER

Same here. I'm trying to devise a simple yet accurate test. I'm a bit lazy when it comes to that stuff. Perhaps a cooler full of ice or something... I think i've done more procrastinating that actual thought at this point.

I should just do it since I have a load. Just the time is what I need, plus getting to long range takes 2 hours plus set up

I was thinking differently than you I guess. I didn't intend to hit a long range... range to test temp stability. Honestly, I think it could be done at the 100yd range 11miles from my house. 3-5ea @ "room temp" and another 3-5@ ambient. Heck, here in Wyoming right now I could easily test about a 50* temp differential just by leaving the ammo in my pickup overnight.

Our low for the evening is ~24*. The house sits @ ~70* where the 2nd set of ammo would be....

Then again, I see that as a bit of an extreme. Even if I was hunting @ 20* or lower (have, many times) the ammo wouldn't be 20* at I always keep it somewhere on my body....

I'm probably overthinking... or still procrastinating. 🤣

I think you should test it and then do it 3 times to see if there's a big variance... small sample sizes aren't the best like 3 shot groups versus 10

So.... Are you thinking about accuracy or?

I was thinking from a purely temp stability basis. Cold weather usually drops velocity, etc. Granted if it's a huge drop it could drop you out of your node... hmm...

I guess running one test would be a pretty convincing factor in whether or not a 2nd or even 3rd test is necessary.

Not accuracy but it would be nice to see correlations with testing multiple times to see if you can build out a reliable temp stability table. I used the 3 shot versus 10 shot group as an example. 3 shot groups small sample size. Larger the better.

Cold temp, cold Bore shots versus cold temp warm bore shots.

Warm Temps cold bore versus warm Temps warm bore. See where I'm going

Yeah, now i'm picking up what you're puttin' down. Sorry man, I was confused 🤨. I even have one of those hand held temp guns that I can use to verify/document temps on ammo and barrel.

PS- You're making this a lot of work you know? lol

Yeah I've looked at them. Just curious if anyone had real world with it. Hodgden/Ramshot website shows it will make alot of speed. I'm just getting started with this caliber and trying H1000 right now and it shows promise but would like more speed if I can get it lol.

No, Barstow, I have a mile range and a good set up. Just the time to get out there.
When I lived in Oceanside and Poway I went to buddy's ranch in Yuciapa/Live Oak Canyon that I could get clear shot to 780 yds or went to the desert off Hwy 8 east towards Az. where I could shoot further . The Cody Shooting complex here you can shoot flat to about 800 yds then work your way up the mountain to over 1200 yds. + Or just go anywhere here on BLM and shoot as far as you want.
My son used to live in Barstow and worked at Ft. Irwin for General Dynamics (Drones). He Moved over a year ago to Colorado Springs and works for Lockheed at Peterson Air Base. I don't know why I told you all that 🙄 you get old your mind rambles so you can remember things...
