Use good brass and there really is not much to do. I clean the pockets with a uniformer to knock the crud out. I have seen comp guys on Accurate Shooter that stopped cleaning pockets and their scores didn't change.
Like @ARlife4me ...I seldom to ever touch touch them and I leave my primers in when tumbling brass.... otherwise you need to clean packed media out of darn near every one! The last thing I want do is take material away from there....just me....

On anything I buy quality brass for, I just clean the brass and that's it.
Once the primer pockets get loose it gets tossed. Keeping in mind I load and shoot a lot of things hot. That's not always an immediate problem for everyone who's uses quality brass and standard loading practices.
