Powder Question for 7mm Mag

Here is my H1000 data, but this is a mild load as accuracy went away quickly as load went up.

Out of curiosity what state are you hunting in (normally)? And in what temps?

2900-3K is a great speed range for the 160's

Side note, I'd not over look 7828

SSC 7828 is favorite 7 Mag powder

What is your recipe for your loads? Have you ever tried IMR 4350?

I don't have access to my load data for the next 2 weeks.
But for instance the 280AI runs about 150 fps faster using RE23, Fed GMM 215 primers with the 143HH bullets, 3100fps and Nosler brass. No pressure signs at all. Other shooters are hitting around 3250 but at max pressure. My brass on both are getting switched to 280AI Peterson and 7RM ADG.
I tried Retumbo, H4831SC and RE23 in a ladder/speed test early on. I like Hogdon powders, but the Reloder powders have sunk its claws into me. Double base powders work.

My Fierce Fury just arrived and I am itching to start working up some loads. I plan to start with a 162gr ELD-X. There are 5 powders that can reach 2900-3000 fps via Hornady's reloading manual. I currently have IMR-4831 and RL-22. The other three powders are Magpro, H1000, and RL-25. Are there any advantages to the H1000 versus RL-22 / IMR 4831 for example?

I currently have IMR-4831 and RL-22. The other three powders are Magpro, H1000, and RL-25. Are there any advantages to the H1000 versus RL-22 / IMR 4831 for example?

R26 getting 3k with 160's. Tried 7977 velocity not there. Have used IMR 4350 and 140-150 gr bullets works well but is a tad temp sensitive.

I'll chime in on this since I've used this powder for almost 30 years. I've used it for a long time on my 7mm-08 for silhouette competition.

Here's an example of the preasure changes. I'd sight my rifle at the various distances in the morning at say 80 degrees and in the afternoon in the high 90's to over 100 degrees I would hit average 4" high at 385m and 6" high at 500m. I've always seen the POI change when temperatures hit above 90 degrees, below that it's minimal if any at all.

As any powder loads worked up in cold weather you should be cautious with in warm temps. I find I lose some velocity in cold weather about .5 fps per degree and vice versa. Which is not great like H4350 (.17 fps per degree) nor as bad as R17 1.5 fps per degree. Very underrated powder. If your 7 mag wont shoot a 150 gr Ballistic tip and 4350 just get rid of it.

Thank you not really worried about anything above 85 or 90. Well out of my range in regards to hunting although I have several pounds I will keep this in mind

Let me add another for you: My A-Bolt Browning shoots 168 gr Berger at 2955 fps using 68.8 grains Retumbo, seated at Cartridge Ogive length of 3.748. My Weatherby Vanguard does 3096 fps with 72.4 gr Retumbo. It's Cartidge Ogive lenth is 3.772. It is not about velocity but all about accuracy. Develop a load that does that and you will be on the right road.
