Powder for 22-250

I think I'd go with H380 with that said, I have Weatherby .224 Wby Mag, with a 1-14" twist... it's one of the older Wby MkV miniature action 26" barrel. Actually, I have two of them the other one was in a 22-250 Rem which I had re-barreled to a 6XC Tubbs, but I digress. My 1-14" twist will shoot nothing above 50gr bullets with any accuracy, that is, if I go to 52-53 the groups start coming apart'..., go to 55 and above and it's a shotgun... The Barnes 50gr'ers I use are the older 50gr "VLC" blue coated bullet {22491} **** shame they're not making the "blues" anymore, they make the same bullet but without the coating, however... I like the coated and I bought a lifetime supply when I had the chance so I'm good. So, my point; I think I'd stay with the 50gr and lower weight bullets in your 1-14" twist rifle no matter what powder you choose.

I've used imr 3031 & 4064 and H380 for 30 years plus man has it been that long I used to reload my 22-250 with a handheld Lee loader and hammer on Saturday mornings when my siblings were watching looney toons!!! I stuck with h380 for the metering ease.

436 them some purtty stocks there
Yes, it is, when I bought them I bought them at the same time and had them hand-select the stocks for me, back then I believe I paid $25.00 or $50.00 each extra for hand-select stocks. Both rifles have been amazing shooters, when the 6XC was a .22-250 it played havoc on the Yotes over the years. Mostly shoot 60gr Nosler SPBT's and later Sierra 65gr Game King SPBT's which became my favorite .22-250 and .223 bullet for all-around usage. The only reason I re-barreled the .22-250 too the 6XC was... so I could hunt Dear with it in States with a 243 cal restriction.

I have several 22-250's and Swifts, all with 26" barrels. I have many fast and accurate loads for both chamberings with various bullet weights. I only use two powders in both. 3031 or 4064. I'm hoping they don't stop making either one like they did 4320!

IMR4895 was my go to powder and 52gn SMK was the bullet. I tried some of the other fast IMR's, like IMR3031 and IMR4320, along with Hodgdon H380, Varget and H414. I tried with several bullets to get N133 to shoot and finally succeeded with the 52gn A-Max. W748 was a good powder also.
The 52 grain smk, and 4895 are my all time best shooter in this caliber.
I think my load was 34.8 grains, 210 fed, @2.464 coal. Bug hole, all the time.

When I had my 22/250 I tried CFE223 with the 52 gr Berger. My last load was 38.4 grs. Never chroned the load but accuracy was not very good. Another load I used was 37.5 grs CFE223 in a Hornady case lit with a WW primer. Velocity of this load was 3652 ft/sec from my 26" barrel. Again accuracy wasn't the best. JME

I haven't reloaded for my 22-250 in a long time. I have a Sako heavy 24 in. barrel w/14 twist. It and two others I had, a Win. Mod. 70 w/heavy 24 in. 14 twist and my first center fire rifle a Rem. 788 all shot good with 4064, H380 and W748. Used only 50 to 55 gr. Bullets.
That M70 had a long action. Man I wish I still had it. It was a shooter .
