POTENTIAL NEW WORLD RECORD ELK?

I can see both sides. Personally if a hunter came forth with a special tag like that and said that he had pursued it for 2 months and ended up having to take it on private wintering grounds, over bait or whatever, that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Nothing away from the hunt or the hunter. 100% of us would do the same thing. I think it's the unknown, details left out, or the potential shady perspective most people perceive of the story that is upsetting people.
Bull elk are lottery and gov tags only in this area. There are monster bull elk all over around here because they're mostly safe, especially on private land. I had a giant and 3 decent 6x6 eating hay with my horses this morning. They're in everyone's yard, field, pasture because they live here too. Public land borders most of our property around here as well.

Sounds like its the spot to be for big bulls
Usually the govt gets involved and ruins it
So enjoy it while it lasts

Yeah I'm on the west side if you. Buddies dad had a tag for ellensburg area last year and got a great bull. Only benefit if you do tag is there's some quality animals out there for the taking. Kind of like specific late season units for bucks as well.

Like you mentioned I think they save the best ones for the most money paid 😂

To me , if was 100% a legal kill. Then it really doesn't matter if he took it on private or public. It's no different then letting a whitetail grow to 200" on a farm and then killing him on a food plot. He obviously has the resources to hunt as many days or months as it takes, or to pay a landowner whatever amount they want for a trespass fee. It still takes the desire, passion and time put in for the accomplishment. It would be different if he paid insane amount to hunt 3 days a year or whatever like they do on a high fence hunt. It's obviously nice that he has friends and family that have kept track of the bull for years as well.

Haha, I spend more time hunting in 1 year 99% of the hunting populations does in a decade. As a Professional Guide, I did 13 weeks of elk guiding this year. Collectively, we killed 45 bulls in 2024. Add all of my personal hunting, without question that is over 100 days in the woods. See exhibit A, that is 700"s of bone harvested in 1 day & we do this regularly. If anything, I'm a realist & do not believe 99.99% of the nonsense I read on the internet. I know Casey's type, kills big animals & claims its all DIY Backcountry stuff. Which could not be further from the truth. The idea that he is wealthy & can buy any tag he wants tells me all I need to know. Put that in your pipe & smoke it keyboard cowboy 😉
🤮

This was a driveway bull. Everything was done legally as everyone says but if you read the story and look a the photos on FB it's pretty funny. Accounts that he asked a certain family for the sheds to make it look like they were his. There are pictures of this bull in Bobs yard, Fred's garden, John's driveway, Ediths roses, over a pile of hay... haha. The best one is the houses in the background (like 65 yards away) of the kill picture that got cropped out. Hats off to the man. This one should stand for quite some time!
