POTENTIAL NEW WORLD RECORD ELK?

With that much time in the field, this guy has got to have some selfies with Bigfoot….just saying…let's see those pics.
He never asked for one...

Apparently, the bull was taken on the last day of the season for a reason. Seems it was shot over bait in someone's yard. The bulls winter on private property. At least that's what I'm gathering from the Rockslide thread.
The new neighbors down the street do feed about a dozen big bulls and have their own little Natgeo situation in their backyard but as far as I know this elk was never part of that group. Haters gonna hate I guess 🤷‍♂️

Zero skill and effort compared to over bait in someone's backyard?
Sounds like the tribal group in the area have been trying to get this bull as well but didn't have any luck…therefore posting all the pictures they have of it in someone's yard. And if it was in someone's yard all season, why couldn't he have gotten it 2 months ago?

A lot of speculation, a lot of one sided stories, a lot of love, a lot of hate….amazing bull regardless.

For all the haters who hate the haters - Just by the harvest date, it's apparent the bull was killed on it's winter range. Which concentrates them and makes them way easier to approach and the shooter had NO competition from other hunters at that time. The reason one of the helpers had the shed antlers from the last two years was because the elk shed them on either private property or a protected wildlife sanctuary where the bull hung out until moving back to the high country. Heck it's a great bull and congrats to the guy for the years of effort. But to say he's somehow more skilled than a man doing a DYI hunt on public land it just pure BS.

Tribal groups do have extended seasons and can hunt on federal land during those seasons. Also possible the bull was traveling back and forth between reservation lands. Either way the bulls territory was well know with limited access.

I can say for fact it was never on tribal land because there simply is none in this area.

I really don't understand the hate. I label it as envy. I don't know the full back story and mostly everyone on here doesn't either. If this bull was killed legally, who cares if it was shot over bait, or from a 2 mile sniper shot, or with a crossbow….its a monster bull and anyone who has spent time in the elk woods has dreamt of seeing something like this! To touch on the money portion, more power to guy on how he wants to spend his money! Personally, if I had the money to buy governor tags or any auction tags for that matter, I would in a heartbeat cause I could afford it and it's what I love to do! But for now, I'll continue to grab my hard hat, lunch pail and thermos like I have for the last 25yrs and make the hour drive to work to support my wife and kids. Some guys have car collections, some guys have multiple vacation homes…different strokes for different folks! Apparently this guy has put his time in if he's killed that many elk, let alone that many bulls over 400". A magnificent specimen of an animal! Congrats to the lucky hunter!
