Pictures of big heavy longrange rifles -let's see them.

.416-.375 RUM is what I would build on the Rem 700 action. Medium or heavy palma contour and at least 27" of pipe. My 27" 3-groove pac-nor spits 340 grain cutting edge bullets at 3000 fps and is my go to long range load. The b.c. on them is .780 and they hold .25 MOA out to 1000 yards if I do my part.

What kind of on game (terminal) performance are you getting with those projectiles, especially at longer ranges where the velocity has dropped?

And Tyler: the title says big rifles, are you trying to bring out the big guns? Lol:D

Haven't had a chance to try them at long range on game, but at 1000 yards they are still going 1875 fps and 2650 ft/lbs of energy. I believe you need a minimum of 1600 fps to open the bullets properly. There is a thread I believe started by LongTimeLongRanger about the bullets and he used them in a 300 RUM for caribou.

Reuben,
Thanks for the reply. I have read about everything I can find on the CE performance. I haven't really found anything on the bigger caliber projectiles. I am using the 415 grain .408 bullets but haven't got to connect on an animal yet either, not from lack of trying. I have humped that freaking 24+ pound rig all over God's creation but cannot get an animal worth shooting to stand still within 1500 yards!

Here's a picture of my big girl:

I have to agree with the .338 Norma's! 300gr bullets @ around 2750fps! What more do you need!

Mine is on a trued 700 action, Mccree's Precision chassis, 27" med Palma barrel, Muscle Brake, Leupold Mark 4, Nitride coated everything!

Weighs in at about 15#, kicks like a kitten, shoots one caliber hole groups at 100 yards all day long!
