Peep/Aperture sites are best for round targets, and open/blade sights are best for hunting.
Aperture sights can be adjusted for size and help with light and clarity, but when hunting
they tend to make the hunter shoot center mass (A possible gut shot) but the blade/aperture
type does not, so they are best for hunting.

+1 with JE, & Mtnwrunner.
Peeps "can" work well in certain situations, but I vastly prefer a buckhorn & blade, for hunting. Then again, I grew up shooting open sights, from BB guns to -06', & wasn't allowed to even put a scope on my rifle untill I killed a deer with open sights. Dads, & Grandpa's rules.
I told my son the same thing with his first .22. No scope till you can smoke a sage rat with your sights on your .22, & by 5 years old he'd piled up a mountain of em
His next .22 had peeps. He can shoot peeps better than I can. I just gotta have a buckhorn to be comfy. Old habbits maybe? I dunno.
I have a buddy tho, that pulled his iron sights, & replaced them with peeps on his .375 lever gun for going to Africa. He was used to them from childhood.
6 of 1, half dozen of the other I guess.
My Lyman .50 (patched .490 groundball on top of ffg) now wears fiber optic open sights. Green dots on the buckhorn, & orange dot on the blade. Works great, but look a bit out of place on an ol' "front end loader".
I'd venture to guess that if your sitting in a tree, or blind, peeps would serve you just as good. If your hunting on the ground, open sights for me.
