Options for an Action

I bought 250 of the Peterson basic belted brass from Graf and stopped after about 3 cases until I can figure out some bushings or a better way of doing it. I was only taking it down to 375 Ackley and thought I could possibly get away with necking down in one step. All I got were folded necks. I can't imagine taking these down to 7 STW without a stack of bushings and a proper die

In this day and age you gotta look at ammo supply and the components to reload and have them on hand otherwise you just bought or built an expensive broom stick! Looking towards the 6.5 PRC as I already have a nice compliment of 7's (280 AI & 7RM), thought the STW would just round it out. Although money is down on the action which is back ordered for me, and if I find brass I will follow thru. Got a little time in other words.

When I made my 7STW brass about 25 years ago, 8mm Rem Mag brass was plentiful and that was an easy 1 step process by just running the 8 Mag brass through the STW die. I haven't checked but I doubt that 8MM Rem Mag brass is easy to find since that cartridge has seemed to become an orphan

I didn't start any resizing with base belt cases yet, because I felt that could be problem in sizing down to what you need. I feel that there needs to be a transition sizing die. I looked at Redding bushing dies for a 375 H & H mags. Nothing to be found. The case top to form starting at the should mostly, some taper going in and up to the shoulder. You would be hitting the shoulder with the case almost fully open and trying to transition very quickly to top of shoulder then to the neck. Possible can be done with a top quality lube and go very slowly. Untested by me, and not for sure either. 416 won't work either from what I can tell.

I'v done 7STW with 375H&H, not very successfully. 300WB has better results, when the 8REM Mag cases dried up.

FWIW: 375H&H does size properly for the 35STA I had.

The 416 was going to be be in between if I could find one to make my 375 Ackley from Peterson basic brass…..I guess not.

I purchased 100 pcs of 7MM STW new brass from Bertram for $160.00. Have not loaded any of it yet but have only visually inspected all 100 pcs. Looks good so far. Anyone else used this brass?
Looking to load up a few rounds pretty soon.

It took a while to get them after I ordered them, maybe 2 weeks, but they finally arrived. They showed "In Stock" on the Bertram website when I ordered them. Not sure about now. Looks like they've all gone hunting for now. Check back later.
