Not impressed with ADG brass

Really? I was slow to jump on the Lapua bandwagon but I love Lapua for my custom 338LM. Primer pockets stay super tight and my SDs are the best of any rifle I own.
So was I to jump on...but fast as heck to jump off. It was a shame too at 575.00/100. All things play their part in the reloads but I'm getting an SD of 3.8 using Nosler brass now. But I chalk it up to the powder.....just me

Well, because so many people on LRH swear by ADG brass, I bought some for a 300 RUM and my .338 Edge. First thing I noticed was the AMP code generated for both was about 10 points lower than Norma or Nosler brass. I loaded some in my hunting 300 RUM but honestly didn't shoot more than probably five rounds. However, I used quite a bit in my Edge since my Nosler brass is getting long for the tooth. Suffice to say, ADG brass requires .75 more grains to get the same velocity as the Nosler cases, and pressure is much higher (judging from the stiff bolt lift). The ADG brass weighed 10 grains LESS than the Nosler brass, which has been loaded many times (and consequently had many case trimmings).

So I ordered some Peterson brass in 300 RUM; figured I could use it in my RUMs and just neck it up for my Edge. First thing I did was weigh the new cases against new ADG brass - the Peterson weighs 20 grains more. I loaded 3 with 90 grains of H1000 under 300 Bergers (my go to load using Nosler brass). I will shoot tomorrow - anxious to see the results.

I can afford to buy anything I want to become a better shooter, so the cost of brass is a non-issue. I see several members bashing Norma and Nosler brass, but for the life of me, I don't know why. Appears Nosler brass is made by Norma, at least the stuff I have, because the AMP Aztec codes are nearly identical, and way higher than ADG. For what it is worth, I have some Norma .338 Lapua brass which generated an AMP code of 170 - only 1 less than the 171 my Lapua brass generated.
You'll get over it. Much like being constipated, it'll pass

My Lapua brass (.338 lm) was showing the same case head seperation marks on the second loading....and experienced two case head seperations...tossed it all...cost was $5.75 a case
Are you sure that nothing else isn't going on?
The other is I have found that Peterson 208AI brass varies about .006 to ,008 ths in length. That right out of the box in lots of 500.

I've quite using ADG brass for my Rums,
I do run them a little warm but 3 loading have been Max. I switched to Norma and
Peterson. None of them can compete with the old Remington, I still have over 100 pieces for my ELR 300 Rum working on 9 loadings and the pockets are steal good. AMP Annealing helps.
