if the tubes and glass are made in Japan... then aren't they really made in Japan...? Just because they are assembled in USA.. that doesn't really make them USA products... does it...?

Isn't the glass and tubes the true quality of the whole thing...?

If the majority of parts are manufactured in one country it must be labeled as "made in" look at high end instruments or even the old Leica stuff, they would label as "made in Germany assembled in Portugal". It depends on the trade laws of the nation of origin. That being said still a quality product!

Part of making an exeptional product is knowing who is the best to outsource your parts to. The japanese are very good at making lenses as they have been doing for years in camera lenses. It just makes sense, use whoever is the best at all the little parts, put them together and you have not only a superior product but one people can afford(ie. Leopold). Just my two cents
