New Tikka Not Grouping Well

Update after sending scope to Leupold:

Shipped it back to them Thursday morning (12-12). Processed it Monday (12-16) and gave me an 8 week estimate for the lead time, but said they would rush it since it was NIB. Received an email from them today with a tracking number. I gave them a call and found out that one of the internal lenses was loose, and it had an issue with the erector. They repaired it and are sending it back. Should be here Monday (12-23) if the holidays don't push it back. 1-2 weeks is much better than 8. I'm glad they honored their warranty, but it's a shame to have to use one on a brand new product.

I'd sell it when it returns and buy a better scope.

Ultimately that is the plan, but I will probably use it for the remainder of deer season. I'd like to see how well or poorly it holds zero and tracks after getting it back.

In the meantime I'm gonna be putting some $$ back and doing some more research. So far I'm leaning towards a Nightforce NX8 or ATACR but am in no rush to replace it at the moment.

I'll plug for NF, I have a handful of them and I have friends with a lot more experience than me that shoot them a lot. So far haven't had to send any of them back

Personally I've accidentally dropped my NX8 from waist height onto a hard gravel road. It held zero and I did not have to adjust anything

Should also look into Steiner and Trijicon. Good glass and europtic is having a good sale on Steiner. Can't say I care for the NF eye box, but that's just me and they are built like a tank but just doesn't work for me.

REALLY.
The guy gets good news and you said ^^^^.
Known problems with Leupold scopes. Reread the entire thread. There are many who have had issues with Leupolds scopes and will recommend the same. So you send it back for warrantee…then what, wait until it does it again? Best to sell the scope while it's still functional and get something that doesn't have systemic issues.

I think the good news is confirming what many of us here thought was the problem…the Tikka rifle wan't the issue.

I have used Leupolds for most of my life without any issues, but I agree completely and plan to get rid of it after this experience. It's just gonna have to wait a little while because I'm gonna be in the doghouse with my wife if I spend any more money on hunting/gun stuff right now.

Glad you got it figured out. Unfortunately Leupold is not what they used to be. I think the screws for their rings and mounts seem to be made of a softer metal now and easier to booger up as well. Then again a lot of stuff seems to be going that way these days.
Nightforce makes a good product. I have their 5 x 20 x 56 SHV and it's been solid although the zero stop is a little suspect. Trigicon is good as well and they are tough. I like Sightron as well.

I think the simple non-turret scopes were fine. I still have a 1.5-5 Varix 3 on my 375. H&H. Works great.
