New Tikka Not Grouping Well

I'm guessing that Beretta will require you to pay for shipping the rifle to them. If so, would be worthwhile to buy a set of rings before doing that.

Also, are you still shooting off a Lead Sled? Try shooting off some bags.

There are several upgrades to the Tikka. I'm in the process of doing them, as we speak to my T-3.
It has the original plastic trigger guard, plastic bolt shroud and aluminum recoil lug.
I believe your model probably has a steel recoil lug so you're in better shape than I am.
If your gun has the plastic trigger guard, you might want to switch it out to a metal one. I think you'd get more accurate torque settings for the action screws.
Or so that's what I've been told.

Possibly so. I figure the shipping will be close to the same cost of rings, but rings may be a quicker fix.

Yes, I am shooting from sandbags now

All of my Tikkas have the stock bottom plastic and they shoot great. Highly doubtful that's his issue.

My first thought is to remove the scope, recheck the tightness of the base (if not integral). Try different rings if you have them.
I say that because I had the same issue. Initial groups were great the everything went nuts. Turns out my rings were slightly oversized. New rings solved my problem.

I can also vouch for the recoil lug issue. On a T3 in 338federal I had the barrel shear/jump off the the recoil lug. It's was fixed with adding a steel one.

The lower recoiling rifles didn't do this but my 7rem needed it after a while also.

Do you reload or are you set on factory ammo?

If I'm not mistaken, it has a steel recoil lug already

The 6.5 PRC with a muzzle brake has very little recoil in my opinion.

I am not setup for reloading yet, but would like to do so in the future.

Why send either back, when you can simply verify with a known solid scope?

If the gun shoots fine with a verified functional scope, then send the Leupold back.

If the gun shoots crappy with a verified functional scope, then re-diagnose and/or send the gun back.

Seems like a simple way to save a lot of time and expense.
This.

As you have probably noticed, most of us aren't convinced it is the rifle.

I don't know anyone with a 30mm scope, and would have to buy a base and/or rings for a 1" scope in order to do this.
1. You need friends with better taste in optics.

2. You can order some $15 1" rings on Amazon that will be there tomorrow.

What rings/bases are you shooting now? I think I've got a couple sets of the old Tikka 1" rings that came with the rifles. I'll drop them in the mail for you if you'd like? They require no "bases" as they attach directly to the dovetailed receiver.

I agree. I'm 24, but mostly hunt with older guys that prefer 1" tubes.

I'm using Unknown Munitions rings that mount straight to the dovetail. If you'd like to send the set of rings, I would be glad to pay you for them. I've got a Swarovski I can throw on it to verify
