Parent case is 6.5x47L
— can NOT use Lapua brass…too short of a neck if you do.
AI: reduced the taper & 40d shoulder
Designed for PRS, so look for 180-190g FB
Alpha brass, Cortina dies for now
No it is not the same as a 7 SAW or 7-08AI

Been waiting on this, but was hoping it would be more of a hunting round. Meaning a freebore set up for 160 to 175 class bullets essentially I think this is the same as my 7 mm Creedmoor.

From Derek Webster:
Exciting news! The first batch of test brass is approved and we are in production on the first run of 7SWC brass! I've tested the 190 Atip and 180 hybrid, both achieved high 2700+ speeds. The idea behind this cartridge is to have the highest ballistically performing comp cartridge available all while seating bullets appropriately in the case and feeding reliably. Tyler Jacobs and I have shot matches with both of these bullets shooting at 2680-2720.
To give some slight reference

6mm dasher with 109s needs to shoot 3630 to match my wind hold at 800 yards.

6.5 creed with 144s needs 3340 to match me.

Recoil is mild and shots are able to be seen through the glass.

Fully formed Alpha Brass will be available very soon!
Along with dies and reamers.

left to right is 6 dasher, 6gt, 6.5x47 lapua, 7 SWC, 22 creed.

Interesting choice for PRS, and not exactly an apples to apples comparison without using the heaviest atips across the board..

Even a 147 eldm at 2720 has just .2 mils more drift in a 10 mph cross wind at 800y over the 190 atip at the same speed.
A far bigger difference will be recoil, and ability to spot your impacts from positional shooting props.
