New rifle, mag range/scope recommendations

You don't need high magnification to "hit" a steel plate at long range, you need it to SEE where your bullets hit. Higher magnification is way more convenient, but it also adds weight. Of course, you can always use a spotting scope, but I generally prefer to not have to go back and forth. I like being able to see where I hit with my rifle scope.
 
I think I'm really leaning towards the MK 5HD 3.6-18 with the TMR reticle. Looking at the sub tension the main crosshairs are .1 mil thick VS. .15 MOA for the Pr-1. Should make the crosshair more visible at the low end.
