Has anyone tried or compared one of these?

I am sure there will be naysayers. Just wait; they'll be all over it shortly.

I welcome technology and innovations. Gavin did a video of it.

Looks like Garman has some competition.
Competition is good. I just wish they were all made here in the US.

I found this 1994 MIT study on CHIRP and Doppler interesting. It complements Bryan Litz's comment above: https://dspace.mit.edu/bitstream/handle/1721.1/37723/31280347-MIT.pdf?sequence=2. The conclusion is on page 90.

I was getting a Garmin X for Christmas. Now I have a month or so look into the Caldwell before purchase. This is why I usually go to the Chinese buffet instead of the Chinese restaurant, I don't have to make a decision, I just eat it all.

Excellent! I used to work in the electro-magnetic industry in the early 1980s. Technological advancements and new and better products are introduced nearly every quarter. While I do not try to keep it the Joneses, I am always fascinated with technology and innovations. I found it interesting when it was revealed in the SHOT show. I like its ability to measure 10 data points from the muzzle to 100Y to calculate the BC reading at different points during bullet travel. This probably explains the slower reading because it has more to calculate before registering the readings.

I was not going to replace my LR soon, but that might change now that it is out. Heck, I still have my old Crony, and it still works. I know many folks here own Garmin, and I am happy. I am curious if LR launched its version promptly/before Garmin did if ownership of these two Doppler radar chronograph technology would be the same today. LR screwed up on their launch date. The sales of Garmin at my local Scheels are not as hot as they anticipated. Having said that, I like these comparisons between the two. My preference on display is the LRLX; they are set up so close to the shooter that I do not think it matters to most. The same is true with the old LR or the Velociradar.

As noted in #1, I expected negative comments. However, none of them have been a showstopper for me thus far. Good luck with your Christmas present.

Get the Garmin. It is fast, accurate and is the size of a Go-Pro.

After watching both of these videos, I am inclined to try the baby LR. Will have to retire the big LR. Love the LR but it is big, and the wind plays hell with it sometimes lol.

You are far ahead of most because you watched the videos. Most will just ignore them. 🤣

IIRC. @lancetkenyon has hands-on experience with wind issues at the range.

Ii have learned(the hard way, acquiring first version of the Lab Radar), to give a new chronograph 6 months to a year before buying it…So bugs/upgrades can be ironed out. Having recently purchased the Garmin, after several outings of use and confirmation I am TOTALLY impressed with this products performace, ease of use/set-up, compact size, and battery life. At this point, for my application, I'll likely have to wait for the next "leapfrog" in technology….Given the long term reliability of this product and/or…..I live long enough🤡……..
