It's throated to seat the 156 @ 3.550". That puts the bullet almost perfect at the neck/shoulder junction.
I took her out on her maiden voyage today. Pretty impressed with the results seeing as these were 1.5 grains below book max.
This may have already been said, the 6.5-257 Wby Mag could have been put out by Weatherby many, many years ago and they didn't, I believe it was just another .264 Win Mag and they could not have added anything to the cartridge performance, end of the story. When they did come out into the 6.5mm game, it was based, as we all know... on the .300 Wby Mag case and it's a hot one. Go with the .264 Win Mag... it's a hick of a good 6.5 Mag. Just my 0.2 Cheers.

Trying to get my hands on some 150g ABLR is proving difficult. Can't get Berger's here anymore.

I know this is an older thread, but I just ran across it. I have a pre-64 264 Win that I'm getting ready to start fooling with, can't remember if it's a 24" or 26" (aftermarket) barrel. I'm mainly interested in bullets in the 130-140 grain range (likely Ballistic Tips and Accubonds) and was wondering what powder you've had luck with in that range? I have a 300 Win that loves IMR 4350 and quite the stockpile of it, so I'm leaning that way to start with, with the current situation.

Will do. I'm gonna fireform some loads this weekend. My problem now is since I blew the taper out of the case I can't use my standard 264 WM bushing die to resize the necks so I can load up the fireformed cases. I'm going to order custom dies but they are 14-16 weeks after they receive my fired brass.
I will be trying to figure out a work around while waiting though. Does anyone know of a universal bushing type neck sizing die?
I wanted to follow up on this. The 26 Nosler die was a bust. I ordered a Redding competition bushing die for a 26 Nosler. For whatever reason (I'm thinking due to the slightly longer case body of the Nosler) the sliding sleeve bottoms out and only sizes 1/2 of the neck.
I did however find a solution that should work. I found a company CH4D that sells for lack of a better term universal body bushing die that is based on base to shoulder length that should work. I spoke with them at length about this and sent them a cartridge drawing and they assured me it would work. So I should have that in hand next week and I will report back.

Well it's been a bit since I updated this. I haven't been able to shoot near as much as I have wanted to. But I'm making preparations for the season and have some updates on the 264 WMI build.
The first fireform loads I shot were 74.3 grains of RL33, seated kissing the lands at 3.550"
Results below:
Next up I loaded 71 grains of N570:
I've since been playing around with a mono option and finally found a workable load with the Barnes 127LRX.
I believe some of the horizontal was me not setting up behind the rifle correctly. I was getting some bipod hop from not loading it enough.
Most recently I've been trying Ramshot LRT and it is showing some promise. I've only run ladder tests with it so far to find pressure but I believe I have identified some nodes I'll be trying.
I need to find time to shoot more as hunting season will be here next month!

WOW, Very Impressive!!! Id say you are ready to take any animal that you decide you want to take. By the way regarding your discussion of Necking up a 257 Weatherby to 6.5mm, in a pinch you could Neck down a .270 Weatherby Mag case to 6.5mm , if you needed too. It's the same case as the 257 Weatherby Mag. You probably already knew that!!
