No, it's the Ballistics App. Not made by Kestrel, sold by AB. Not the weather meter. Version 3.1.9 on the app

The Applied Ballistics mobile app (for phones/tablets) was overhauled. It is now called AB Quantum.

I updated automatically as well. Took me about a day to get the basics figured out, and still learning the ins and outs, but I do like that most of the information is on a single tab. Rifle profile, shooting solution, settings and devices each have their own location and are a little easier to navigate in my opinion. The app can connect directly to a lot of rangefinders, if you have one with Bluetooth. They are supposed to have kestrel support by the end of the month! I hope so. I too would have been PO'd if I had to learn it on a hunt. Good luck!

Agree new program was a pain to learn but does seem to have some nice features. I was fortunate that the upgrade did not come during a hunt so I was able to take the time to watch the video. The on line manual is also helpful if you want to quickly get back up and running just scan to the section on that topic. At least my data came back this time .... not like the event a few years back.

Not sure about Android, but you can configure an iPhone to only update apps when connected to Wifi - that way you won't get an update when out in the field.

I have an Android and years ago tried turning of the updates. It worked for awhile but eventually caused some issues and I turned them back on. Sorry it has been a long time and I don't remember why but Doc got me back up and running

Not being able to select a rifle and then a sub menu of loads is very annoying.

This is my biggest peeve about the new UI as well.
Also, the app used to retain the last environment, range and solution from last time you used it. No more.

So my phone auto updated while I was in Texas on WiFi.
Went to enter data for a shot and this new version is f-ing terrible. I'm not sure if my update is not correct but I have yet to be able to get it to spit out a chart.

All the data is correct. I hate This new version. May have to look at something else. Which I hate cause I loved the last version. Easy to use and worked great.

Im with u. I loved the old version. Id run hypotheticals in a given rifle to help me choose what bullets might work best for me.
Just pick the rifle and run thru the specific profiles taking note of windage, drop and velocity at a certain yardage and compare all. It was great!

Ive come super close to deleting this one! I did go and delete most of the profiles i have because its such a pain to sort thru them anymore I no longer use it for that.
