Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Bastone Walnut, maybe? Doesn't quit look like American Black Walnut and you don't usually find fiddle back like that in English Walnut. Bastone is a cross between Claro and English, grafted at the the roots. Claro has fiddle back sometimes........

That will work....if it is your first 257...you have discovered a hammer...with a 110-115 bullet it will just hammer deer sized game

Fine looking rifle, looks to be in exceptional shape for a "used" one, a goat hammer for sure.
