Having a new STW built. Had one 20 yr ago and of all my guns it's was my favorite. I used to run rl22 with Barnes xox bullets. I'm gonna be looking at 140-160gr bullets and was wondering about rl25. I use it in my 300rum with 168ttsx. Any one using it for that weight range? Also how is the Hornsby brass for the STW? I shoot a lot of bowler but wondered how well the horn act worked.

With the 1:9.5, I'd use a 175 gr weight bullet and Retumbo, R26? I used my 7STW with 140 NBT lasers for antelope to 180 VLDH remove their soul elk bombs. But that's just me.

I hunt southern whitetail. I've always liked the 140-160. I took a mule deer on CO with 160xlc back in 2000. This year I shot 140accubonds in my 7mag and they did well. Hopefully one day I can get back out there and chase an elk or mule deer

You can never go wrong using H1000 with any of the bullet weights in the STW. With the 140's, RL25 has always been a winner for me. I use Retumbo with the 175 ELDX (don't try this bullet in your 1:9.5 twist because it won't stablize........I learned this the hard way and can shoot them now since I have a new barrel with a 1:8 twist). RL26 is also a good option. If I had only one powder to use, it would be H1000

I have a half pound of RL25 I was gonna try. I have some 145lrx and 160sst I'm gonna try. I also have 140ttsx and 139 interlocks.

Although not the best for velocity, my 1 in 9 twist stw loved H4831 sc with the 140 partitions....Also had no problem with 180s unless we started pushing to fast.

Great results with RL25 and 160 Nosler AB........77.5 gr about 1/2 inch @ 100....haven't clocked it yet.

Rem 700 action, 26" Douglas airguaged, 1/10 according to Simpson's original specs.
