Does the OP reload??? If no then take a 280 AI off the list since there's not many factory offerings out there.

If he does then yes that would fit the bill good.

A .270 Win would be best still

And no, don't do a .243 Win or .257 Bob or any of the other .308 based rounds when you have a 30/06 length action!!!! The only "short" round I would do on a long action is a 6.5/284.

It's not cheap, but it's pretty easy to find Nosler .280 AI factory loaded ammo...

I stand corrected....Some of that ammo is on clearance for a really good price. Especially that 150gr E-Tip, and 140 Accubond ammo.

Then again, most of my calibers (if they make factory ammo for them) are about $80+ a box. So, $50 a box is cheap to me. That's why I started reloading several years ago.
