Frankly, that's what I would do ... you'll be much happier with your original plan.

Yes, I think I am still leaning towards my original plan. I like the rifle and am really not having such like toward many other rifles. I think I'll stick with Bergara and see how it acts.

I really like to recommend an X-BOLT for factory long range shooting, especially with the new fast twist barrels. But, they are out of your budget by about $400.

You're best bet on that budget is a 700 long range, and shoot a 168 vld or162 eld-m

Seems like a good move. The fix isn't super expensive, just a pain if you have to deal with it.

I would look into a Browning X-Bolt to Ruger M77, I have both and they are accurate and comfortable to shoot.

Thank you for the info. Now, do you know anything about the Savage line of things? At this point, I'm having a hard time -- Bouncing between Bergara (still) and Tikka T3X....

If tikka fits the budget, definitely tikka because if nothing else they have great qc and are good rifles
