N570 powder

It is now in the list for my 338 Edge. Along with A-Tips.

It seems a little slow for the 285s. Everyone comments that N570 likes a full case and pressure. Same goes for 338 Lapua.

I've got a lot of 285s to get through with 7828.
I have 2 338 rums how much powder difference is it and velocity between the edge and rum

It's about 5.5 grains by spec. Velocity is 100-200fps but depends on a lot of things. I am trying to compare like to like as much as possible. Based on but not my actual load. 26 inch barrel. 57k PSI. Same amount of shank in the case neck.

A 338 RUM running a 285 ELD-M over 85.2g of IMR 7828, 2669 fps Using a spec? case volume of 113 (wikipedia). Ammoguide says 110 capacity
A 338 Edge running a 285 ELD-M over 91.7g of IMR 7828, 2925 fps Using my actual case volume of 116.8

These are not "actual" but it is the speed I run my 338 Edge at. It has 30" barrel and I run at closer 52k PSI.

I am currently running N570 in my 338 reaper and my 33XC. Both run 300 gr burgers. 338 reaper is near max at 99gr and 3050 fps. My 33XC is not close to max load at all, 3150 fps with 104 gr. Both in 30" barrels. Both very good accuracy and ES/SD. I know those are heavier than your bullet range but hopefully it gives a touch of insight.

I have a 338 Allen Xpress (imp. 338 Lapua). My best load and velocity was with RL 33. Velocity with 300 gr. Berger's was right around 2,950 fps with a 26" barrel. Don't get too worked up over velocity - especially at the muzzle. You will find the all the big 338 cartridges tend to shoot within a 150 fps of each other. If you create a ballistic drop chart for the various competing cartiridges, you will find that the difference in velocity downrange varies only by 30-50-fps at long range distances. Not enough to worry about. Base your choice on availability of components, ease of reloading, what fits best into your rifle, etc. It's hard to go wrong with any of the big 338's.

Superformance gained more than a hundred fps for the 165 gr Sierra in .300 WSM in the factory 24 inch tube. I tried VV N-560, H4831, R-22, R-19 and MagPro. My VV N-570 experience is limited to .270 WSM, .264 Win Mag and 6.5 WSM. Very good there for accuracy, with heavy for caliber, 160 gr bullets in particular.

Funny you brought this up as I just grabbed N570 and 300gr bergers to try out in my 338-378 Wby. So this will be interesting.

N570 sucked for speed in my 6.5x300 with 153.5 BERGERS. Maxed out at 3150 fps. Now I just use US869 in her and am at 3250 - 3300 fps and less pressure than the N570 loads. In before that ITS NOT TEMP SENSITIVE STATEMENT. yes i know but this is a killer extraordinaire cartridge. Not a fun Sunday day at the range cartridge. So it only gets shot during winter like now for load testing. Sub 50°

But I am really looking forward to see how my 338-378 does with 300 bergers

I also have a 338 378 interested to know how it does
