Muzzle brakes...

Id recommend Hawkins precision for a basic side port brake without rear draft. They are still surprisingly effective. Muzzle brakes n more will be coming out with a non draft brake soon as well with a port design that should be more effective. All will put a lot of blast on you, but the ones with out draft will put less debris on you. A lot of the blast has to do with muzzle pressure, fast powders and long barrels make brakes seem nicer. I have gone full circle on this and have decided IF Im using a brake it will be a good one, so muzzle brakes and more or terminator brakes for me now. Lay down a mat for range or practice sessions.

I have a suppressor in the works and have for the better part of 8 months now...
I ordered this one for my hunting rig. I'm not sure it's suitable for my rifle with the brake/concussion issues I've mentioned above. Anybody have any real life experience with a supressor that can hold up and is intended for the magnums?

Did you mean to ask for experience with a suppressor holding up? Because that's not really a concern I've ever heard of with a brake.

If you are worried about a suppressor the first thing I'd look at is the manufacturer's rating. Typically they will give a cartridge and barrel length it's rated for.

I meant to say supressor... I changed the words around. I'd rather go overkill some instead of being on the verge with something. 300 ultra and 300 prc are my 2 I'm talking about. 300 ultra 28" barrel. 300 prc is 26" barrel

I'm running a vias brake on a 9 pound 30 nosler.

It's just enough recoil reduction for repeated load work from the bench without excessive noise or blowback. It's what I wanted and what my smith suggested. No issues with shooting prone as well with it.

I was finally able to get a suppressor for my a Lapua. I don't ever want to shoot that rifle without a suppressor again. The noise reduction is nice but the percussion reduction is the best part of a suppressed gun. I feel bad for hunters/shooters in states that do not allow suppressors.

I shoot a braked .300 Weatherby. I have never experienced a headache from shooting. I wear a pair of ear plugs plus a good set of electronic headphones.

I have an Eliteiron Bravo on my .30 LARA (improved .300 Jarrett) custom rifle and it is rated for (.300 RUM/.30-378 WBTY). It works great on my .300 WM, .300 WSM, .270 AI, .264 WM, 6.5 CM.

I have a 300 RUM that is a Rem 700 thumbhole stock, Krieger hvy bbl with a vais brake. Shooting 210 gr Bergers @3150 off the bench is no problem....years ago I used a Gentry quiet brake, worked great for noise, recoil was ok. I now have a TB ultra 9, haven't tried it on the 300 yet, but won't shoot without it if possible....these new brakes are impressive, but the noise signature is God awful! I shoot in a match where a guy shoots a 6.5 PRC, and nobody wants to shoot, or even stand behind him when he shoots....maybe less is more when it comes to recoil and noise

That is one of two radials I tried earlier in my quest for effective MBs and I could not get rid of it quickly enough. Respectfully, not my personal preference esp. when there are plenty of choices that are far more effective.

I really like my Whitt Machine brake. It really reduces recoil and no felt percussion from shooters position. However if you are standing on the side....
