Musicians that as a youth you under appreciated

@ Darryle thanks for starting this thread. I ran a music show at our NCO/ EM club in Germany back in the seventies. My older brother was a disc jockey out in Dutch Harbor, AK for many years. We both spent a lot of money on equipment and and albums. This brings back some good memories. Today we just have to say "Hey Google play Patsy Cline, or Joe Walsh". Technology is not a bad thing sometimes.

Corb Lund

Years ago, more than 35yrs ago, I started wearing American Hat Company bangora straw hats. They're weren't popular because everyone wanted a Resitol or Stetson because they were cool, hip. Working with my grandfather raising cattle, hats didn't last long, dirt, grease, sweat and the occasional mud stomp from a mad momma cow, so I liked cheap. They eventually went out of business and were bought by the owner of the Best Hat Store on the north side of Northside. I was a huge Corb Lund fan, back when he was playing the small sub-100 person clubs. I had several of his t-shirts. My current bangora was over 20yrs old at the time. I heard they had brought back the exact weave and crown of my hat. So I strolled in, found it in my weird shaped melon size and went up to have it shaped and I am talking to the kid behind the counter explaining to copy this hat exactly. Then, this other guy walks up and starts asking questions about my shirt. He says, if I was going to listen to one song, which one should it be, I said S Lazy H, turns out that other guy was Corb Lund. We chatted about my choice when he said he had far popular songs and S Lazy H wasn't even playing on the radio. I said maybe with people who have never rode a fence or worked a cow, but that song strikes a chord with the family rancher because there is so much truth in it. He signed my shirt and tried to give me tickets to his show on Camp Bowie, I took him to the truck and showed the 6 I already had. Got a t-shirt and a signed CD instead.

Very personable guy, who you can tell has lived the life he often writes about.

This is a whole new tangent, him, Cody Johnson, Aaron Watson, Bleu Edmonson, Cody Canada, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jason Boland, Old 97s(went to school with and grew up next door to Murray Hammond), Cory Morrow, Roger Creager, Jackson Taylor Band, Creed Fisher, Austin Meade, Stoney LaRue, Josh Grider, Josh Ward, Aaron Lewis, Randy Rogers Band and a ton more, search one and the flow chat begins of great artists similarly tied together.

Tom Russell is a great writer, my favorite song of his is "Gallo del Cielo" recorded live by Jason Boland and the Stragglers
