It's hard to say because there's several unknown variable. How well was the jug sealed? How consistent was the construction of the water jugs, and so on. As far as the 77 gr OTM it's impact velocity was 2249 fps as compared to the 168 gr 1894 fps. So I imagine the 77 gr OTM expanded much earlier than the 168 gr causing more energy to be transferred while inside the jug.

What you said plus, using a very fragile (yes they exist) .308 bullet with impact speed similar to the .223 bullet!

2249 fps? well, that kind of sounds right... it had to be doing better than I would have thought to do that kind of damage, I'm talking about the first video of the attacking jugs, yeah... I agree with you on several unknown variables, but blowing that jug up in the first attempt (video) at 300 yards? Something just doesn't seem right. The 77gr OTM is a great performer from 16" rifles, but... not that good, what gives?? šŸ¤” šŸ˜‰ Cheers

Side note; I would have thought the Ferdal Gold 168gr Mk would come across the 300-yard mark at around 2100 fps I think he was shooting from a 24-inch bolt gun. Not a big difference I would agree. As always I'm talking about his first attempt in the video, between the 77gr OTM, 147gr Ball, and the 168gr Match Cheers

If you are talking about the videos, but believe he said Ruger 16" SFAR , the 5.56 was a 20" AR

In the second video I believe he said his impact velocity for the 168 gr was 2049 fps. If it was from my 24" PSS the impact should be 2158 fps at sea level. So I believe his numbers are way off. Especially his 77 gr OTM velocity since he claims a MV of 2913 fps at the 4 minute mark of the first video. Sig's published velocity for that ammo is 2750 fps.

Yes, I agree... there seems to be a lot of confusion on his part. My clone 77gr OTM M-262 Mod 1 loads run at 2750 fps in my 16-inch AR. Cheers
