Looking for alternative powders for 300 and 7 rum

Been using rl25 for all my loading in 300 rum and 7mm rum I am loading 150 to 160 class bullets in 7mm rum and 180 to 200 in my 300 rum I can't get any reloader powder can't find any so that's about out of ? . In the 7mm rum currently running from 3450 t0 3557 fps in chronograph with a 26 factory barrel the 300 rum is a 28 inch barrel and I'm getting 3400 with 180 sst through chronograph and not a max load .I currently have imr 7828 h1000 us869 h4831sc imr 4831 h4350 a 4350 looking to keep velocity close any help appreciated thanks in advance
IMR 7828 and Viht N565 are on each side of RL25 for burn rate. Personally I would try H1000 first depending on the weight of pills. especially since it is available now. Also Retumbo, it is out there now.

H1000 not slow enough for 300 RUM unless running below 180 gr. Bullets. I is my go to with 180 Hammers . Haven't tried Retumbo with 180 Hammers. I think too slow burner. With Barnes 180 ttsx and Berger 185 hvld and 190 worked great .

If you look at temp stability the H1000 you have is the go to there. That being said the 7828 you have works up a good load, that is what I have been running in my 7RUM but 7828 is discontinued and the 7828 ssc(still available) doesn't give as good of case fill.
After much resurch (mostly on this sight) I will be switching over to Retumbo (also very temp stabil) as soon As I am out of the 7828.
Will also be trying it in my Brothers 6.5x 300 bee and also hopefully switching both my Boys rifles (7RM and 270WSM) over to Retumbo to hopefully eliminate the amount of different powders needed.
I wasn't too sure about using Retumbo in the 270 WSM until I listened to Chris Hodgen of Hodgen powders on podcast yesterdy say that his go to in his 270 WSM and 300WSM is Retumbo.

How far are you from Gulfport, Miss?

Used H1K in my 300 Rum and best I could get is .75" with 180. That was in the 94gr range and about 3200. My chrono wouldn't read loads above that so I don't know how well H1K was pushing the 180's when I went above that up to 96gr. Maybe it wasn't level or something. Think Retumbo will be next

H1000 in the 300 RUM is what works the best for me.

Every barrel is different. I have one 300rum that performs incredible feats with 215 bergers and h1000

I haven't used the Staball HD in anything yet. My 6.5 PRC has a 24 in. barrel also. I also have a 27 in. MGM Encore barrel in 6.5 PRC. Good to know about speed. Definitely not for 300 RUM then ! I want try the LRT. I have a lot of N565. The last RL26 I saw was 4 years ago. Can't find RL23 either. I worked good in 6.5 PRC. I've never tried it in 300 RUM.
I agree with you for sure—it has been at least 4 years since I've seen RL26, and maybe even longer than that. The VV N565 is a good substitute for RL26 that I have seen based on my own reloading data plus what I have read in various forums. The word is that Hornady bought up most of the RL26 for some cartridges in their Precision Hunter line of ammo. I saw a video where a guy took Hornady Precision Hunter in 6.5 PRC, pulled the bullets, examined the powder, plus weighed it with electronic scales. He had a pound of RL26 next to him and the powder from Precision Hunter was identical to the RL26 and the weight matched up with what a load of RL26 would have been to match the advertised velocity on the box of 6.5 PRC Precision Hunter ammo—so that was convincing enough for me to make me believe this story.

Back to the 300 RUM & 7mm RUM loads: I've seen some replies on this post about US869 being a good option in 300 RUM and this makes total sense. I am having great performance (speed and accuracy) from H870 in my 300 RUM and H870 and US869 are very similar in burn rate and physical properties. I also have a good stock of US869 for my 300 RUM; however my H870 is older so I am using it first.
Also, if anyone out there is wanting to use H870 (they don't make it anymore) a few years ago I found a company in Arizona who was selling H870 as T-870. The company was called Thunderbird and they were basically repacking H870. However, US869 is so plentiful and so close to H870 that it might not be worth the trouble. But I can say that Thunderbird T-870 is the exact same powder as H870. Enough of my rambling. Thanks guys

If you were closer I'd work something out with ya for a pound of H870 I have that I'm not using. I also heard that about T870 as well. Been a long time since I heard about thunderbird powder.
