Long range 25-06 with the new 133 berger?

I've heard....that the 133's are picky and the 135's are not. My 25-06 likes retumbo with the 115vld. I'm waiting on a 7.5tw barrel and probably going to toss a coin between 25-06AI and 25 sherman on this next chamber. Welcome to the quarter bore rabbit hole lol
YESSS! SO MANY OPINIONS!
some say the ai is better and some say it's not worth form firing your brass.....
Hey, tomato "tamato" lol.
I have three 25-06 rifles and I wanted to see what one would do with the berger 133. Have a guy putting it together and I'll let you all know how it preforms. FYI.... IF YOU DECIDE TO BUILD ONE, you will need a scope with AT LEAST 80 minutes of ups!

I've heard......that chambers like 243ai and 25-06ai gain the most velocity from the "improvement" and that the "law of diminishing returns" really kicks in with cartridges larger than 280ai. Fire forming isn't that big of a deal especially on a new barrel. I normally don't start figuring real D.O.P.E. until about 100 rounds down the barrel anyway. Most of my fire forming was done with feral hogs as a target in a 223ai I had. Velocity increases B.C. in a round about way and if I'm gonna be going to the press to load the 130's anyway.......might as well put it in an improved chamber. At least that's my thought process.

I really wish I would have ordered 2 7.5tw barrels instead of just 1 😫

Not sure how available the 131 blackjack bullets are right now but they are worth trying. I have 500 on hand still that I'm using very conservatively. I have Berger 133/135s also.

Your mileage may vary but I hate fire forming, speeding up the barrel wear process in my mind, lean towards cartridges that I dont have to do that with as I have owned them before. This thread is very interesting

Yes sir....It's not as easy to say "been there, done that" when it comes to 25cal stuff and the new high BC bullets. Everyone is pretty much riding the same wave at the same time right now.

I also enjoy rubbing the performance in the my 6.5 needmoor buddies face hahaha

My buddy has a 6.5 Suam and he has been really surprised with my little ole 25-06AI. So far the furthest impacts we both had were at 1400 yards. He is shooting the 140's out of his 6.5 Saum at 3050 and I am pushing the 131 ACE @ 3200. Its been a joy to shoot and fire forming wasn't bad at all. It really likes Retumbo.

Well here you go! That's at 1000yrds.

Not by a long shot, Ackley himself didn't see much use in improving cartridges based off the .308 or .30-06. Cartridges that have a lot of body taper are improved, one of Ackley's favorites was the .250 Savage case. If you look at a .250 AI case and a Creedmoor case, you'll see he wasnt wrong.

I know someone will point out the .280 AI. However, the .280 AI was adopted to corret Remington screwing the pooch on the .280 Rem. BS their autoloader and pump rifles couldn't handle the pressure, they were chambered in .270 Win as well. Remington in my belief didn't want it out sell their 7mm RM they were highly invested in.
