I suspect there is a reason that there is always a large supply of rebuilt Simmons on the market.
FWIW the first Zeiss I had fell apart but was replaced.
After looking through and sighting in a number of guns with Simmons, one just a week ago, I'd never buy one personally. Just not nearly as clear as a good scope should be. Though I can say that one 300 mag I zero'd in knocked the front lense loose BUT the simmons held its zero.
Anymore nowdays I'd prefer to buy one Leica or Zeiss to 2 of anything else.
BTW those that put the big 50 mm heavy scopes on the big rifles are putting a big strain on the mounts and scope. Where was that thread that the euro scopes are so good in quality(last LPS I looked at was fairly close also) that they accomplish in 40-44 mm what normal 50s do. No need for those big ends and extra weight an misery IMHO
