Let’s see your coyote rifle!

22 creedmoor 85.5 grain Berger hybrids. Quickly becoming my go to rifle when my son lets me use it!
Have relatives in from Colorado. Showing the forum to my cousin when his youngest daughter (17) wanted to see the pictures. I should have known better. Her only comment: "And the reason for killing those animals is what?"

Management is the answer
If predators are left unchecked the ungulates will be slaughtered
Also ranchers need them gone
To witness the sights of calving with beef cows and what coyotes do is very stark and graphic reason why we kill them.

She has moved on to visit other relatives. She was not open to discussion, and being this time of year, I did not waste my time trying to explain anything to her. I guess my point is that young people today, even in a hunting state like Colorado, are being indoctrinated against hunting and guns. We are fighting an uphill battle. Do you think we are winning?

I don't think it's about winning or losing.

Record number of hunters this year hitting the outdoors.
Youth are the future of hunting. Take a kid shooting or hunting if you can. It's the only way to make positive progress against the misconceptions being pushed

The silver tubes are filled with nitrogen and dissapate the heat. The barrel never gets warm!
Are the tubes cold to the touch , or the same ambient temperature as the other metal surfaces of the rifle ?
I can see that the spacing between the tubes helps promote more air-flow through the fore-end of the
stock , thereby allowing barrel heat to dissipate more quickly .

How are the nitrogen filled tubes more efficient than empty tubes , or tubes filled with water , sand , or any other substance that they might be filled with ?
Unless there is some sort of refrigerated system that flows compressed nitrogen through an expansion valve , thereby creating cooling by the rapidly expanding gasses . But then it would need to have a compressor and a condenser in addition to the expansion valve to complete the refrigerating/cooling system .

I am not being dis-respectful , I am just curious as to how the tubes work .

Ruger M77 MKII, .22-.250, Richards stock, McGowen D4, 7.7 twist, 75 Berger VLD, H4350, PPU brass. Leupold 4.5-14X40 SF LR. The yote was focused on lunch when I shot him in the back of the neck.

If I had a pickup this would be my truck gun.

Nitrogen cooled for volume rodent shooting? My guess? - are the nitrogen tubes are pre-filled via a tube from the removable tank and the gas allowed to slowly escape & expand. My 6mm AI with a 87 VMax would have probably blowed the yotes head off. Would Freon 410A work?

I'm not sure of all the science involved but what I do know is that nitrogen has larger molecules than O2 and are basically inert gas. Therefore it is not subject to heating as rapidly as air,or sand and disapates heat more rapidly. It also dispelles moisture although moisture in this application is not it's purpose. As you also already pointed out the spacing works to aid in cooling as well. Hope this helps

Those relatives general don't visit me unless someone dies and usually never come to my house. I am not sure why. I am a likeable guy. I have tried to educate them about the finer points of life
