Let’s play Long-ish range shooting monthly Challenge

I like the challenges. Shooting just to waste ammo isn't very interesting to me.

Shooting off hand is a necessary skill IMO. I've killed many deer and one elk shooting off hand. None have been over a 100 yards or so, but for shots I had available to me in those hunting situations…it was the difference of tagging out or walking back to the truck empty handed. I'm not going to take off hand shots on game…other than varmints…much higher than 100 yards though. I carry a bipod and my trekking poles double as shooting sticks for longer range work.

Count me in! I just picked up a Tikka CTR in .308 with a 20" barrel that will be perfect for this challenge. Getting a scope mounted on it today! My 18" M14 would work well here too, iron sights to make it more interesting. Or my M1…hmmm..decisions, decisions.

Interestingly enough…Hickok 45 demonstrates his off hand shooting with the rifle I just bought here:

I plan on being on the board tomorrow

Is anybody going to get on the board this weekend ?
Going to take the 30 nosler , 7 saum , and 300 prc out.
Weather is not favourable but it 3 shots at 100 yards so I think I can survive.

It's possible, but not likely, to happen tomorrow! memtb

I'm gunna try to get to the range. It might be a little chilly but for a shot I can probably get it done.

I like the entire idea........will have to wait for at least another 1.5 months maybe 2. I think a general target 10" round or square and simply shoot for the middle. You know the good ole pie plate zeroing target...."close enough to kill it".

Oh definitely will be fun, great idea! Was thinking about getting the heart rate up for one scenario. Like buck fever do some cardio and try off hand.

Back during the "Poatal Matches" on the other forum, I suggested something similar…..to more closely replicate a true hunting scenario. For a while there, I thought that I might be banned from the forum.

To say it was not warmly received, would be an understatement! memtb

Sounds like a good idea. We have a PRS Range so can shoot off of PRS stations. Unfortunately it's cold now and may be going in for spinal cord surgery again. Just had the MRI done yesterday and need some more xrays done in a few days.
Prayers on your surgery, Len. Get er done and get back to shootin!

WTH????......I thought this was take a gun, cartridge, target, and shoot the thing off hand at 100. 😂 😂 Not shoot 10 rifles one time and take the best one. If you posted what one was the first crack, and all the others would be nice to see. I could find the time to get this done.....even if its 10 degrees out.....just one simple shot with a minute or two in the cold.

So, did I miss some details?
What size target, and what are we measuring since it's only one shot?
You will have a point of aim correct ?
Well you will shoot free standing and aim at a certain point of aim , there no target size , I guarantee no one on here will hit point of aim unless you cheat.

Measure from point of aim to impact and that measurement in your entry.

Sorry didn't read through all of them, but I gathered that the criteria and rules are about the same as a US presidential election. Someone tell us exactly how this works again. I've read 10" targets up to the size of a house from 0 to 8000 yards offhand vs bench. Hahaha

I thought the first post was 300, field only, no bench cold bore…
