I like the challenges. Shooting just to waste ammo isn't very interesting to me.
Shooting off hand is a necessary skill IMO. I've killed many deer and one elk shooting off hand. None have been over a 100 yards or so, but for shots I had available to me in those hunting situations…it was the difference of tagging out or walking back to the truck empty handed. I'm not going to take off hand shots on game…other than varmints…much higher than 100 yards though. I carry a bipod and my trekking poles double as shooting sticks for longer range work.
Count me in! I just picked up a Tikka CTR in .308 with a 20" barrel that will be perfect for this challenge. Getting a scope mounted on it today! My 18" M14 would work well here too, iron sights to make it more interesting. Or my M1…hmmm..decisions, decisions.
