Looking at the mark 5 5-25x56, and vx6 4-24x52.
Thoughts ???

What do you plan on doing with it? The vx6hd you can only dial the turret two turns above your zero once zero so technically you can't even really use all 75moa of adjustment once your zerolock is set.
Long range hunting 800-1200 yards, and target shooting beyond that. Lots of turret turning..What's your intended use? You're comparing two different platforms, tactical vs hunting.
TBH, if you're hunting at that range, you'll benefit from the elevation offered by the Mk5 as well as the holdovers in the reticle. The target aspect will be your training for ffp hunting, I assume.Long range hunting 800-1200 yards, and target shooting beyond that. Lots of turret turning..
I've heard so many bad reports about Leupolds not tracking, and from what I've read so far the mark 5 tracks well??
I've never used a ffp scope but I like the idea of using reticle holds at all magnification levels.
I have three. All return to zero without fail and dial up perfectly. This is my go to VX6 3-18. It runs just as well as my HDs. And this is right now...Good points guys, the more I read about FFP reticles the more I'm thinking about staying SFP.
Does anyone have good or bad reports about tracking with the VX6 HD?
Wow 7 lb 338 Norma Mag! That must have been an *** kickerI watched a tracking test on u tube on Mark 5 and it performed. My mark 4 always worked for me and it lived on 7# 338 NM for quite some time.Had real old tactical mil leo on 340 for years.Ill have a Mark 5 in a few days due to nice price point 5-25x56,weight not bad for size also.Ill see how it does
