By the time i got to the end of this thread i forgot what the original question was. Sucks when people ruin it.
I use a kestrel for hunting. Its paired with my sig 3000 binos. I just use the bino out to 800yds because thats as far as they will give a solution to as a stand alone unit. If the shot is farther then a pair it.
