Wow thanks for all the responses! These hunts aren't cheap and i can only afford to do one every couple of years so im trying to do my homework
It sounds like u got a solid outfitter and things went according to plan. It's been my exp that outfitters in KS and Iowa are less likely to overbook and play favorites. Much of that has to do with the tag availability. It's practically impossible for a non resident to hunt Iowa year after year. A bow Hunter in my section (south central about an hour south of DesMoines) is lucky to draw every third year. Gun hunters usually get drawn every other year. The summary provided by Bullmark is spot on in terms of the hunting conditions we experienced. Very hot, very humid, evening only show. Only thing I observed that was different is that I had never been to Central Kansas Whitetails before, and they put me on deer of the same quality as the guys that had been coming every year for years. They maintained a book of trail cam shots and were very open about what was in various locations (we targeted the buck I got) and they did not play favorites in any way from my perspective. Not at all like several experiences I have had here in the West with other outfitters. They were also incredibly gracious and accommodating with my father, whose health was failing, and I will be forever grateful for that.
Will pics follow??? Knock one down,Im going opening day modern gun dec1 I believe. They said like others said that muzzleloader would pretty much be last hour of the day and hot . Maybe there will be a big one left for me!
Can confirm, spent my first 30 years in Kansas and fortunately have a lifetime license so I hunt with my folks every year. It can be pretty miserable that early in the season, good choice on waiting for rifle season.muzzleloader would pretty much be last hour of the day and hot . Maybe there will be a big one left for me!
Definitely! Got a while to wait!
