A dear friend of mine who is now deceased helped break up a poaching ring in south Alabama. They were so arrogant as to call themselves "The deer hunting mafia".
Well my friend who was a game warden from another part of the state was supplied with a old 4x4 pickup and set up in a rat hole trailer park in the little town these perps operated. He got in with them and went poaching right along with them, he never shot anything, but he helped in every other way possible. When the bunch of them were busted he was playing poker with the ring leaders as the game wardens and county police rolled onto their property.
Funny part was three of them had gone out poaching and came back as the wardens were cuffing everyone, and just pulled in with poached deer in the bed of the truck. Quite a awakening when they are they were met buy the county Sheriff's officer.
I'd shot archery tournaments with him for over a year in different parts of the state and had to call Jimmy Wade, the name he went by while undercover. Hard to not let slip his name when you were friends for about three decades.
Really miss him, he was there when my son was born, when my mother died, I hunted all over the state when he was promoted and moved to another area of the state. Game wardens always knew where the best hunting was.

I knew a Jimmy Wade years ago, good poker player, just stopped coming around the trailer park after my buddies got....wait......uh, yeah, sounds like a heck of a guy, talk to you guys later...

We just had a moose poach in the area. Just left to go to waste. It's just wrong!
