Is shot placement more important than bullets?

The. Correct bullet suitable for the Game to Be. Hunted. At the Range it will most likely be hunted is Extremely important, so is. Proper. Shot. Placement as. Every. Hunter should. Clearly understand! To. Me the are. Both part of the equation! Both equally incredibly important!!!! IMHO
I agree but ............ as asked which is more important, I have seen a lot more stuff killed with little bullets that were put in the right place than a monster BC bullet that was poorly placed

Yes, shot placement is more important. Have the proper bullet is also important for a fast and clean kill.
I am fairly good at tracking animals, been a hobby for many years. Too many times I have been with others that wounded the animal they shot. So I am called over to help track it down. Proper shot placement would have eliminated the wounded animal struggling in its last hours.

I one hunted percent agree that shot placement trumps bullet style for a good kill, however, you will see quite different behavior from the different bullet classes. My preference is simple bthp type bullets.

One thing to think about here at longrangehunting.com, is that bullet selection to minimize wind drift can do a lot for getting proper shot placement.

Bella Twin proved placement over displacement, at least to me, see pics.

Exactly:
"we have plenty of information to chew on now. Bullet construction, the velocity at which they impact the target, the terminal ballistics of bullets when they hit our prey, and the skill of the hunter pulling the trigger. These are certainly not all of the aspects that we need to evaluate nor are they in that particular order, but they surely are some of the most vital."

Of course shot placement is the most important factor. But that is still no excuse for picking a bullet that doesn't have the terminal performance required to best insure kill and recovery.

If and when shot placement is poor, then terminal ballistics determines whether or not you may or may not find your animal.

This is why some folks want to hunt with a field artillery piece. They would be better served choosing a cartridge suitable to the game and working on marksmanship with a bullet that leaves a nice blood trail. A good exit wound is also important.

To me that must be combination off both.

I agree. I've seen perfectly placed shots with poor bullet performance that end slowly. I've seen terrible shots, that due to bullet performance (or perhaps a miracle) ended quickly.

It can go either way.

If a person is capable of, or lucky enough to find game, shot placement AND bullet performance are about all that matters!
