Interarms rifles....?

Hope you have a good time making a LR rig from your Mark X

I understand someone liking the 375 H and H. I already had my 375 Taylor. It fit me better and was close to two pounds lighter. I am able to get 2775 fps with a 260 accubond. Don't need two 375s.

well... I took a better look at it, and found out that it is setup for bench shooting with the super heavy bull barrel and single shot feed. The barrel I can live with, but wasn't sure if I wanted to live with the single shot feed... since I'm more of a hunter instead of a paper hanger. I'm probably silly for not taking it home with me yesterday... but I've got a few more days to think about it.

It was altered to make it a single shot. Why not bring it back to original condition? IIRC regular mauser parts will fit a Mark X. What parts are missing?

I'm not familiar with the Mark V but have had a bunch.of Mark X s most of them were 375 HandH or 458 Win Mag. But also 300 Win Mag and 1 or 2 others. My 9.3×64 Brenneke is built onan Interarms Mark X action. They are a very good 98 Mauser copy. All the 375s and 458s were at least 1" rifles at 100 yards.. proof that under barrel recoil lugs do not mess up accuracy. The 300 would turn in ragged little clusters at 100 yards. My 9.3 is a great shooter but it is a custom rifle.
If the Mark V is a 98 Mauser copy I would say that was a good deal.

Mark V was only mentioned once and I think it was one of those automatic typing errors we sometimes do. There is a Mark V Weatherby but not aware of a Mark V Interarms bolt action rifle.

I thot it might be but was not sure. I remember the Interarms catalogs from the early 80s but I always concentrated on the larger carts.
I seem to remember that they had other than Mark X actioned rifles. But am not sure. Its been a while. The pic above does look.like an Interarms 98 Mauser tho. And Dan was right, that barrel looks like it would make an axle for the trailer I'm building.

You never know till you shoot a used barrel if it will shoot. I would have bought that rifle and shot it as it was. As time went on I would have bought the parts necessary to make it a repeater. If the barrel was found to be lacking then I'd rebarrel. The action was worth the price alone.

Brownells sells an interesting alum box mag/trigger guard/ floor plate which I have considered putting on my sporter to save some weight.

They also sell a follower.

Numrich has all the mauser parts you would need. Just not sure which version fits the Mark X the best. I'd call and ask.

I took another look at this rifle today, and couldn't pass it up at 300.00 plus tax from a Pawn Shop... so now I have this Beast or Beauty, and not sure which to call her at this moment... time will tell. Now I need to buy dies and bullets in order to fire up her engines. I'm not sure what to buy right now, since I've never owned a 25/06... any helpful ideas will be appreciated.

The barrel is as big as a trailer axle, 1-1/2" wide by 26" long, which makes you think that someone tried to build her into something special, but I'm just guessing.
My only desire for it is to shoot long range coyotes... but it probably won't beat out my 22-243 AI with 90 gr Bergers... don't even know what's best for her... but I'll have to find out soon because I plan on going out West for Nov-Dec to chase those coyotes, with hopefully getting some long range shots.
If anyone has anymore thoughts... please share them with me...thanks...Dan

You're currently at the mercy of whatever brand brass you can find. Load it with H4831 (I like short cut) and 90g to 115g bullets. A magnum primer may or may not be called for. Are you sure the barrel is 1 1/2" dia. ? That would make it larger than the receiver ring! Even 1 1/4 " diameter would make it too heavy to carry from stand to stand for LR coyotes. With my luck, they pop out at 25'-100' and all you get is a quick shot.

Hi Dan....you probably have a straight 1.250" tube on your rifle. I agree with H4831 as a starter. I also have had good luck with IMR 4831 and H4350. I would probably use the 115 Berger VLD's if you can find some. They will give you a lot of wind bucking with the high b.c. and they should be very accurate. You can drive them over 3100'. I piled up a lot of game in my earlier years with a 25-06, up to and including an elk at 450 yards.....Rich

The Interarms rifles are Mauser actions and tend to be VERY accurate rifles. Many came with "less than premium" stocks and a stock finish that was knows to crack over time. These rifles should be SHOOTERS. An Interarms heavy barreled 25-06 should be a tack-driver.

I've got an Interterms Mini-Mark-X in .223 that will punch groups I can cover with a dime so long as I do my part. I've talked with other Interarms owners and most have similar stories.
